"Dieting and food restriction are such ingrained parts of American culture that even doctors can have a hard time delineating between healthy and harmful practices, which is where intuitive eating’s potential power lies" Eating today has become this idea that the food on your fork can either kill you or cure you, The lifelong pressure to diet wears people down. It’s unsurprising that some clinicians and dieters eventually look for a new waythough it might be more accurat...e to call intuitive eating an old way. We were all born intuitive eaters, Guys, this is great read! I couldn’t love this article any more than I already do. https://www.theatlantic.com//2/02/intuitive-eating/583357/

Proof that protein doesn’t always have to come from eating meat. Whipped up some fresh hummus this morning and man is it delicious and filled with protein, fiber, healthy fats, vitamins and minerals. Pair it with some veggies and you have a well balanced lunch/snack. One cup of cooked chickpeas contains: 269 calories... 45g of carbohydrate 15g of protein 13g of dietary fiber 4g of fat My go to hummus recipe that never disappoints and makes a ton! Instead of spending a lot on store bought hummus. Also, store bought hummus tends to have a lot of added oils besides olive oil and preservatives. *I will mention I did not use canned chickpeas and did the overnight soaking of dry chickpeas and then cooked them this morning. And to make up for not using the canned juice the chickpeas are in, I just subbed warm water until it reached the right consistency. You want it fluffy and not to thick because it will thicken when it cools. Also, I don’t put cumin in mine just out of personal preference but I’m sure it’s good. Enjoy! https://www.cookingclassy.com/hummus/

Tis the season for food! This actual statement may be giving you guys anxiety if you have wellness goals you want to stay committed to. This should not be the case! Coming off the holidays with feelings of guilt and anxiety should NEVER be a thing! Holidays should be a time to enjoy friends and family and yes yummy delicious food! Holidays are usually being partially centered around food and that is ok! Food does not have to be anxiety provoked. ... To help you guys power through the rest of your months of holidays I’m going to offer you some words of advice... INTUITIVE EATING! Know your triggers listen to your body. Stop eating when you are full. Don’t beat your self up if you eat something you know may have not been the best Be aware of your choices. You always have a choice! Stop restricting unless it’s a trigger for you Eat in moderation and with balance Have fun! No staving yourself in the beginning of the day so that you can overindulge at that holiday meal. If you did some over indulging over Thanksgiving here are some recovery foods to incorporate into your nutrition this week- Leafy Greens-Eat some big salads or sautéed kale/spinach as sides or as a meal Turmeric- lowers inflammation Apples-aid in digestion, water weight regulation Celery- lowers inflammation, vitamin K Cucumbers- aid in hydration, antioxidants, potassium Lots of water and add some fresh lemon slices or juice Fruits and Veggies in general Hot herbal teas The list could go on but all of these will provide your body with essential Micronutrients, Macronutrients, Vitamins, Minerals, and Vital nutrients. Eat Living Food! Stay away from processed and refined carbs.

Back living on the East Coast since September, moved into a new house, getting ready to have our first baby and now and in full blown freezer meal prep mode for when baby comes. Soups are a huge meal prep bonus during the winter months. Here is one one I absolutely love!
