Happy President’s Day! Today we honor and acknowledge the past and present leaders of the United States of America. We are thankful for the freedom and liberty we have as a country to choose our leaders. We recognize their sacrifice and service to our country as President of the United States. ... We are praying for our current President, Joe Biden, and Vice President, Kamala Harris. This week’s Wednesday Word comes from 1 Corinthians. It is a passage that defines love. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7... May we be rooted in love and let it affect everything we do! #AHLIexperience #internationalstudent #studyabroad #internationalstudies #hostfamily #experience #learn #live #americanhomelifeinternational #exchangestudent #homestayimmersion #schoolexperience #WednesdayWord #scripture

The month of February is Black History month! This is an annual observance in the United States where we learn about and celebrate the history of African Americans in our country. In the United States, there is a lot of brokenness and pain in the history of how African Americans were treated in our country. There are even traces of that pain and hurt today. It is so important and crucial that we educate ourselves by listening to and supporting our black brothers and sisters. February is labeled as Black History month, but every month we should be choosing to listen and learn about other races and cultures. In the Kingdom of God, there is no place for barriers of hatred or dividing lines. We are the body of Christ and we are called to love and support each other. May this be a month of listening, learning and celebrating black history.

Going out to eat can be a fun thing to do with your host family or student! Thankfully, outdoor seating is still available at many restaurants, while others are doing socially distant indoor seating. Another option, if you still feel uncomfortable going out in public, is getting takeout and having an outdoor picnic at a park somewhere.
