Happy Holidaysand Happy New Year! Oh my, are we ready for the new year and to put 2020 behind us. This year has been challenging in so many ways and we’re quite hopeful 2021 will bring us new joy and eventually more normalcy, whatever that may look like on the other side of COVID. Our latest challenge here at Animal Health Care Center of Hershey has been keeping our team healthy and working. With the increased cases of COVID in the area, we have had one third of our team... in the last few weeks whom have had to miss a few or more days (and some even weeks!) of work due to exposure quarantines. Thankfully, the masking and quarantine standards we are following at our hospital have kept our team from becoming exposed amongst each other. We are proud we have been able to continue to be here for your pets throughout the entire year without a mandated whole-office shut-down. We are working hard to prevent such a thing! While AHCC has been able to stay open, we have regrettably had reduced appointment availability and/or decreased response time due to working short-staffed. Our team members whom have been able to continue to work are working many extra hours so please be kind to them when you see or talk to them. All of us work in this profession because we love pets and understand how important pets are in our lives. As such, it is difficult for us to admit when we can’t fit in just one more appointment or when we must make a pet wait a little longer than normal to be seen. Our team truly is a team, not one subsection can operate without the other. So, even if our doctors avoid quarantine, we still need our client care specialists and technicians to assist in appointments. (Don’t believe us? Ask the doctors to run bloodwork or take radiographs, or even better, ask them to check out a client from an appointment!) If one subsection is down too many members, we do our best to fill in and help where we can. It is amazing to see everyone pitching in, but we look forward to a time where we are a well-oiled machine again! We cannot thank you enough for your patience and understanding throughout 2020. We hope each and every one of you and your pets has a relaxing and safe holiday season!
