Armstrong County Fireman's Association 03.12.2020

See these? Do you know what they are and what they represent? They are the shoes of volunteer firefighters.... They are the comfortable shoes, worn at home, running errands, taking the dog out, raking the leaves. They were shed without hesitation to don heavy uncomfortable boots and bunker gear designed to offer at least some protection from fire, broken glass, and jagged metal. Clothing whose sole purpose is to protect..... those who protect you. Local guys. They work in the oil patch, the local ag supplier, trucking company, phone company or area farms. Some are even retired but just not smart enough to stay that way. They leave their wives, children, parents or whomever to come to complete strangers aid. 12 noon, 3pm, 2 am, it makes no difference. And their families want little more than to see them put their shoes back on at the end of the call. There are no words to describe the task of picking up that pair of shoes after a call, knowing the man or woman who put them there will not be returning to do it themselves. Pay attention. Get off the fricking phone. Move over. Help them put their shoes back on

Anyone planning on attending the burn this coming Sunday, please fill out the Form on the event post on this page if you have not already done so. We need to know who is coming, so that we can plan out the day. Thank you for your interest. We are stocked up on pallets, water source is full, have 30 plus attendees so far for the day. We are in need of around 15-20 hay bales if anyone has a source (free or low cost). Also if anyone is planning on bringing apparatus with the intent to use as the school, let us know so that we can make full arrangements for needed rigs. We are looking forward to a bright future for the training facility and can not do it without YOU!

Would everyone like to share this once please. It indicates that the person wearing it is deaf or hard of hearing and in some cases wears a hearing aid. In thes...e times (when wearing mouth masks) it is impossible to lip-read, which makes it extra difficult. There is little point in wearing the sign if half the people don't know what it means. The deaf and hard of hearing will thank you I'm trying to find a source of these, but thought I'd share in the meantime. Thank you Emma https://www.redbubble.com/shop/hearing+impaired+stickers

We appreciate the interest in coming out to the school on the 15th. If you are planning to come, we need some information from you to establish our schedule for the day. All who plan to attend must fill this form so that we can have a successful day. https://forms.gle/nmSiaDwEgMtkDVWp7... Would you prefer lunch to be each person’s responsibility, or prefer to throw together in the morning and order pizza or something in?

A friendly reminder and warning for those of you with kids and dogs - It is September and the start of football season, but it is also the time of year when cop...perheads are born. The baby snakes are born with venom and ready to defend themselves. The mama snake generally gives birth to about 8 - 10 of these critters, so if you find one there are others around. The babies will keep those greenish/yellow tips on their tails for about a year. These snakes are not generally aggressive but will bite if you are unfortunate enough to touch or step on one. Do not reach under bushes, around rocks, or even flower pots without looking first. They like damp places so beware, even under children's toys and dog dishes! No better time than right now to drop off a couple cases of water at your local fire department. Over a week of 90+ degree weather, and wearing all their gear......your donations would be greatly appreciated! Remember, most fire department fund raisers were cancelled this year, so help them out, they need it more now than ever! See more

Armstrong County Fireman's Association 05.03.2019

We’ve been doing a little cleanup around the school over the last couple of months. We’d like to get a good grip on it and get it ready for all member departments to use. Call it a revitalization if you wish, we just think it’s time for proper usage again. Please consider coming out this Saturday morning at 9:00 AM for a work detail to make it happen. Since the school has minimal equipment, please consider bringing any gear to complete the tasks of brush removal, tree limb removal, or shovels, brooms, etc. Anyone with cutting torches can assist with scrap handling. Also, your safety is of primary concern, so be sure to dress appropriate, since you may encounter snakes, ticks, mosquitos, and other critters. We will create an event so that you can all let us know who is coming to lend a hand. Thank you, staff.

Armstrong County Fireman's Association 26.02.2019
