What you think, you become. Whatever thought to which you attach "I am ..." becomes your identity.

A calm mind and body serves an advantage beyond physical self-defense. It helps in maintaining mental health, for example, and allows one to, hopefully, better see perspectives available in times of chaos and life upheaval.

Something to consider in uncertain times: You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm, making you spill your coffee everywhere. Why did you spill the coffee? ... "Well because someone bumped into me, of course!" Wrong answer. You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup. Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea. *Whatever is inside the cup, is what will spill out.* Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which WILL happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It's easy to fake it, until you get rattled. *So we have to ask ourselves... what's in my cup?" When life gets tough, what spills over? Joy, gratefulness, peace and humility? Or anger, bitterness, harsh words and reactions? You choose! Today let's work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation; and kindness, gentleness and love for others.

In light of the new mandates issued by Governor Wolf, we will be setting up Zoom classes to begin on Monday, December 14th and lasting until January 4th (the proposed length of the governor's "pause"). We will still hold classes at the Studio on FRIDAY, DECEMBER 11 & SATURDAY, DECEMBER 12. Graduation is postponed until we have a clear idea of when we can meet again in person. As soon as we set up Zoom, I will email everyone with the code number to allow you to join classes.... Zoom classes will be held during the normal days and times. Private students are encouraged to join the Junior class from 5:15 - 6pm, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. I will also be holding a Zoom session on Saturdays, open to ALL students, including Adults, at 9:30am - 10:15. The idea is to maintain as much normalcy as possible under the current conditions. As these are considered regular classes, students who have a uniform must be in full uniform including belt, and everyone who participates will receive credit for attendance. Attendance on Zoom WILL count toward future stripe & belt tests, so please plan on Zooming with us. When you download Zoom, you will have the option of creating an account or signing up via Google or Facebook. When you join a "meeting" you need to enter the ID for that particular meeting. (NOTE -- I will send the class ID code as soon as we have it) PLEASE NOTE: I have reached out to the Governor's office for specific information regarding the operation of our Studio. In the event we are allowed to continue training in person, I will let everyone know via email. These are difficult, uncertain, challenging times, but the whole point of Martial Arts training is in how to cope with adversity. We are stronger together. And we will get through this TOGETHER. We are a family and a strong group of Martial Artists. I am extremely proud of our students of all ages and the courage and Spirit you consistently demonstrate. PARENTS -- I am grateful beyond words for your involvement, your trust and support. As always, I am here to answer any questions or address your concerns. Stay safe. Stay healthy. We are #BMAFamily #BeTheLion

Discipline ... the ability to face any challenge life throws at you with the sheer will to overcome, to not be defeated. Fall down seven times, stand up eight.

Always be the hardest working person in the room. Honest hard work will always beat and will always out-perform lazy talent. Focus ... willpower ... and a gritty determination to never be defeated ... to rise every single time you fall ... to unwaveringly face every challenge ... to fix your eye firmly, like steel, upon your goal and to NEVER back down ... is the way to victory.
