Check those mailboxes! The first ever Humane Pennsylvania Reading Pet Survey has begun arriving in mailboxes to all residents in the City of Reading. It is so important to complete this survey, preferably online, so that we know what pet owners in need are struggling with right now. High response rates to this survey will allow us to deploy one million dollars in free and low cost services throughout the city!
The Results are in! We are excited to share that Target Circle users casted over 130,000 votes to Humane Pennsylvania, awarding $1,900 to our organization and to the animals in need. A big THANK YOU to everyone who showed their support by voting for our four-legged friends.
"Anytime there's a high-profile pet or adoption or somebody who is famous who gets involved with animal welfare, it benefits all of us," said Karel Minor, the president and CEO of Humane Pennsylvania.
Meet our Pet of the Week, Sebastian! Sebastian is a 7 year old neutered male, declawed cat who is available for adoption at The Humane League of Lancaster County.
Humane Society of Berks County Alumni Spotlight Alexandria stated..."We have 3 dogs and 2 we adopted from the Reading location. Skip our Puggle is 11 years old and we adopted him when he was 2. He is the kindest dog, is unbelievably smart and keeps us on our toes. He was adopted to serve as our son’s emotional support pet who has Aspergers and was a perfect fit. Hans Von Licken is a miniature pincher that we adopted when he was 8 weeks old and now is 7 years old. Hans is ...the most popular guy in the neighborhood and is friends with everyone on 2 and 4 legs. He is very particular about everything and if something is out of place or not right, he will let you know. He is the definition of man’s best friend and my husband’s constant companion. Our family would not be complete without them." We love receiving updates about our alumni! If you have adopted from us and would like your pet to be featured please email our Donor Relations Coordinator, Chelsea Cappellano, at [email protected]
A huge THANK YOU to our community partner, Weis Markets, located in both Berks & Lancaster Counties for their on-going support through their annual Paws for Pets program. Thanks to their partnership and generosity from the community, this week we received over $4,000 in Weis gift cards.
Did you know something as simple as a bag of dry dog or dry cat food can prevent an animal from being surrendered to a shelter? Spike's Pet Pantry helps those who may be experiencing a temporary hardship from choosing between feeding their pets or their families. Help support this life changing program by making a donation of dry pet food through our Amazon Wish List https://www.amazon.com//wis/genericItemsPage/ZM4RWC3GE78P
