Berwick Rotary has completed a District Matching Grant Project for this year. Over $2000 in non-food items were purchased and delivered to local food bank for those in need. Items such as paper towels, toilet paper, cleaning supplies and personal hygiene products are often needed but not available at food pantries. Our donations were very much appreciated at the at the Salvation Army and Living Hope pantries, and the Beyond Violence Women's Shelter.

Roger Baer visited Rotary this week and shared his personal project Baskets for Veterans. Fifteen years ago he recognized an opportunity to provide personalized gift baskets to our military service members both active, retired or prior service. Throughout the year he cans a variety of fruit jams, jellies, pickled vegetables, salsas, apple butter, and smokes cheeses. Beginning in November he begins preparing over 150 baskets to be delivered or mailed to veteran recipients.... His list of recipients has grown throughout the years through requests on his personal Facebook page or word of mouth regarding a deserving veteran. He treasures those moments when he sees the joy on the faces of veteran recipients receiving a basket, just to say thank you for their service. This is Roger’s labor of love and respect for those individuals who proudly gave their time and lives to serving our country in the military. He believes the time that he spends making the items for his baskets and then packing, shipping and delivering these baskets a most important part of saying thank you to these selfless individuals. Rotary president Christine Curley with speaker Jim Stout from The Berwick Historical Society. Jim gave Rotary an update on what his organization has been doing during these past pandemic months at our meeting last night.

Berwick Rotarians meet at the Cherokee Tap Room for a night out on their regular meeting night. Food and fellowship were both great, looking forward to another road trip in the future.
