CORTLAND APPLES FOR SALE NOW AT THE MARKET! . Cortland apples are a family favorite around here for making our own homemade applesauce! Cortland apples make a uniquely pink applesauce, due to the color of both their skin, and the veins that run through the flesh of the Apple. Dorothy (Noah’s Grammy) started the tradition, and Ruth has since put her own spin on things. Applesauce making continues, and this year it will be a family affair. . You’re in luck, because we’re going ...to share our family recipe right here! . DETWILER FAMILY APPLESAUCE 1. Wash your apples. 2. Cut the apples into quarters. 3. In a heavy pan, add the quartered apples and cook on low heat. The apples will start to soften. 4. Keep covered, and stir frequently. *if you find the apples sticking to the bottom of your pot, reduce the heat and add water 1TB at a time. 5. Let the apples continue cooking until they are completely soft. 6. Now it’s time to strain the cooked apples and make sauce. Our family prefers to use a Victorio Strainer for this process. The apples go into the funnel, and as you turn the hand crank, beautiful applesauce will separate from the skin/seeds. 7. Cool the applesauce, and transfer to a freezer safe container. Now you can enjoy your own homemade applesauce all year long! *If you don’t have a victorio strainer, a cone strainer works too. (Pictured last) In that case, after you quarter the apples, you’ll also want to cut out the seeds. It will make the applesauce easier to strain. *If you don’t have either option above, a blender will work as well! You will want to peel and core your apples so that you can throw everything right into the blender. Note: your applesauce may not get quite as pink this way. . We hope you stop in, grab some apples, and start your own family tradition! . Hours: Mon-Fri: 4pm-7pm Sat: 10am-5pm See more

The love of baking didn’t bring us together and when most people ask who does the baking for The Market- I’m quick to say, Not me, I’m the burner! Sara has got the skills in the kitchen for sure, but her baking resembles the love she has for taking simple ingredients and turning them into a pie a family can enjoy after a Sunday dinner together, a cookie the little boy up the street always asks his mom for when they stop in, or a pack of Tandy Cakes a husband buys for his w...ife when yet again he forgot to take out the trash. When you take home your next freshly baked good and see the sticker Made With Love remember the hands who prepared it and beauty of two women working together on a dream. #MadeWithLove #ThanksSARA
