Circle of Seasons will have an outdoor winter spiral available to our community beginning the afternoon of December 21st and available until December 24th. Check the family update for more details.

Hanukkah Sameach to all who celebrate! Hanukkah begins at sundown tonight and lasts until the evening of December 18 this year. Thanks to our talented teacher April Huff for the beautiful watercolor menorah

St. Lucia’s Day is a festival of lights celebrated in Sweden, Norway, and the Swedish-speaking areas of Finland on December 13th in honor of St. Lucia. This festival is held by second graders each year at Circle of Seasons as part of their study of 'golden legends' or the stories of good, kind, and strong people. Second graders process through the school singing, holding battery operated candles, and delivering cookies to each classroom! In Sweden, the festival is meant to b...ring hope and light during the darkest time of the year. Schools generally close around noon on the day of the festival so that families can prepare for the holiday. Families observe St. Lucia’s Day in their homes by having one of their daughters (traditionally the eldest) dress in white and serve coffee and baked goods, such as saffron bread (lussekatter) and ginger biscuits, to the other members of the family. St. Nicholas visited each of our second graders this weekend #SaintNicholasDay * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * In the book An Overview of the Waldorf Kindergarten as edited by Joan Almon, this is written about the role of Saint Nicholas during Advent: (Saint Nicholas) is an archetypal figure of heavenly wisdom and is the forerunner of Santa Claus, whose very name is reminiscent of St. Nicholas. Santa Claus, however, is a more earth-bound, incarna...ted figure who dwells with elves in the North Pole. Though he, too, if full of love for the children, his gifts are more of a material nature, even though he comes on Christmas Eve, a time of profound spiritual giving. One can understand how he arose in our more materialistic, secular age, and one can hold him a positive way for the sake of the children who love him so, but one can also create a place in the Advent season to bring the original, more heavenly St. Nicholas to the children. Who doesn't love being outside? This is definitely catching our attention here at COS!

Today, we say goodbye to the 2019-2020 school year. We are so proud of our students for all of their dedication and hard work. We are so blessed to have such amazing kiddos! The obstacles they've had to overcome this year were not easy but they did it!! We couldn't be happier with their success. We can't wait to see you all again in August! Have a wonderful summer!! However, for the first time in Circle of Seasons' history, we say our last goodbyes to our 2020 graduates. O...ur Trail Blazers, our kiddos who have seen it all, our first ever 8th grade class. Some have been with us since the very beginning of COS, some have found us along the way but they all hold a special place in our hearts. We've had the honor of watching you grow into AMAZING young adults who are more than ready to take on high school. Words cannot fully express the love that we have for you. You have helped make this school what it is today and we are forever grateful. Congratulations Class of 2020, we couldn't be more proud of you! See more
