Liberty took to the yoga mat! I had the mat with me in the pasture and decided to improvise and use it as a blanket. This is the first time she ever had such an object on her. She scooted away at first. The moment all four hooves stopped moving, I removed the mat from her body. Within a few minutes she stood still to be rubbed and then let me place it on her back. The energy required to work with horses is calm, persistent and pleasant! You want your horse to enjoy learning a...nd spending time with you. As you can see in the photo, she is ground tied and Dakota is being a supportive herd member....Dakota does enjoy her photo taken #horses #horsemanship #naturalhorsemanship #yogichorsemanship #quarterhorse #rescuehorse #equestrian #trakehner #filly #farmlife #mares #horsetraining #arabianthoroughbred #yoga #yogicpath #equestrianyoga #compassion #livethelifeyoulove

My pretty little Libby growing up and walking well on the lead. In my life, I have had the honor of working with and rehabilitating horses that very few people would attempt to handle. Miss Libby is no exception and is on of the most intelligent, sensitive, clairvoyant, intense and challenging horses I have ever met. It is not always sunshine and rainbows with this filly, but we work through it! Liberty has reminded me of my life passion and calling. I'm incredibly grateful ...she chose me as her human. Libby could have easily been ruined if she landed in the wrong hands. The trauma she experienced as a yearling runs deep, but this girl shines like a star! #horses #horsemanship #naturalhorsemanship #yogichorsemanship #farmlife #filly #trakehner #rescuehorse #equestrian #compassion #yoga #yogicpath #equestrianyoga #horsetraining #nofilter #countrygirl #livethelifeyoulove

Dakota and Liberty grooming each other. I spend a lot of time grooming these beauties. When I'm grooming one horse, the other 2 start grooming each other or me! I love it. My 3 mares live most of the time outside, so grooming is a daily routine. Grooming is such a simple exercise, but incredibly important and bonding. It is a fundamental aspect of horsemanship. #horses #horsemanship #naturalhorsemanship #horsetraining #farmlife #mares #quarterhorse #rescuehorse #equestrian #trakehner #filly #yogichorsemanship #classicalhorsemanship #grooming #livethelifeyoulove #nofilter #countrygirl

Honey posing sweetly for a photo. She doesn't always let me capture her beauty and grace, so I was incredibly excited she struck a pose! My darling girl is healing and I hope she continues to defy the scars of her old injuries. After our vet visit, I put her in a stall for a few hours until the bandages could be removed from the debridement area. I forgot her halter, so I improvised with a loose lead rope. She did great and it reminded me that I don't need much to get the response I desire from my horses. If I'm calm and steady with my energy, my horses follow my lead and accept my requests. Energy, body language, and understanding the psychology of the horse, create a foundation based on partnership, trust and respect. Everything else that follows is built upon this framework.

A walk with the charmed ones is truly enjoyable, but definitely challenging! It takes a lot of focus to channel the energy of these beauties. All three mares have big personalities. Each express the elements of fire, earth, water and air in a unique way. Walking these lovelies is a practice of being completely present and in the moment. My role is to take the lead in the organization of all our energies into a harmonic flow. In order to do that, I have to be true of heart and... self-aware! Horses are mirrors of spirit and psyche. They are incredible teachers and always let me know my level of energetic vibration. It was not an easy walk to start, but became natural as our hoof and foot beats fell together. The walking of these mares is an engaging exercise in spiritual and mental expansion. #horsemanship #naturalhorsemanship #yogichorsemanship #quarterhorse #mares #trakehner #rescuehorse #equestrian #compassion #yoga #yogicpath #equestrianyoga #horsetraining

Dakota and I are enjoy a lovely ride through the countryside. Now that honey is healing and Liberty settling in, I can take Dakot out on adventures. On this ride, she was a little excited to be without her mates, but she moved into a rhythm with calm and assertive direction from me. I work with all my horses bitless and prefer to ride bareback. I can feel my horse and focus on correct body position. Dakota is wearing a noseband made by @tiffanysbraidedtack. I love it and so... does Dakota! Yoga asana has taught me body awareness and correct position. Actions that are practiced on the mat during asana, are directly related to the actions of correct body positionwhen riding. For instance, the poses practiced during Sun Salutation, teach the stacking of shoulders over the hips and hips over the heels. It also teaches a neutral pelvis for effective communication and balance. The action of the lower belly in and up, ensures stability and balance when moving with the locomotion of the horse. When we broaden the shoulder blades against the back and align the lower ribs of our side-body on top of our pelvis and lift through our sternum, we create length and lightness. Yogic philosophy teaches self-awareness and compassion. I apply these ancient techniques when I work with and communicate with horses (all animals). Yoga has changed my life. It can transform anyone's life and create a meaningful and strong bond with our equine partners. Stay tuned and follow! I am working on posting a short video of the Sun Salutations and how the poses are directly linked to riding. #horses #horsemanship #naturalhorsemanship #yogichorsemanship #farmlife #mares #quarterhorse #rescuehorse #equestrian #compassion #yoga #yogicpath #equestrianyoga See more

Miss Liberty Belle did a great job getting her hooves done! I'm very proud of this little filly. She has become more self-assured as she settles into her new life. Liberty quietly accepting her hooves being trimmed is a sign of trust and psychological healing. The first time she had her hooves trimmed, she needed to be sedated because she was incredibly sensitive and nervous. My dear friend and and amazing horsewoman, Sherrie Hilliard @sherriesmustangs worked with her daily a...t her farm. Libby allowed Sherrie to trim her a second time without the need for sedation. I worked with Miss Belle for a few months and prepared her for my farrier Danny, @dannypistilliprofarrier to trim her. Libby watched Danny trim Dakota and Honey with eyes wide in amazement! It seemed to help her find confidence and trust the process. Rescue horses come with many physical, psychological and spiritual issues, but with patience, consistency and love, they are well worth the effort. A special thanks to: My friend Sherrie Hilliard @sherriesmustangs My patient and wonderful farrier Danny @dannypistilliprofarrier Logan's Heroes Animal Rescue @logansheroesanimalrescue for gifting me this extraordinary filly Liberty. #horses #horsemanship #naturalhorsemanship #yogichorsemanship #farmlife #horsesofinstagram #rescuehorse #equestrian #compassion #yoga #yogicpath

Sweet Honey posing for a few photos. I was elated with the opportunity to capture her beauty and spirit. She is the first to greet me in the morning and evening. This mare has been patient with her daily wound cleaning, despite her occasional fussiness. We have a long road ahead until she heals completely, but this darling mare is worth the effort. I'm approaching the situation as a experimental learning experience in wound care and general equine health. I apply ayurvedic ...principles to heal the wound and yogic philosophy to keep my mind steady and calm. It had been incredibly bonding and rewarding to care for her. #horses #horsemanship #naturalhorsemanship #yogichorsemanship #farmlife #mares #quarterhorse #rescuehorse #equestrian #compassion #yoga #ayurveda #meditation #yogicphilosophy #veterinarymedicine
