Here’s a fun one that might just fit the budget and keep you busy pickin’ and coming up with new ideas. This is an Agile Baritone guitar with a neat Rick look to it. It has a set neck and what appears to be a bound ebony fretboard. I have it tuned to A and the action is superb up and down the neck. The two little ricky looking pickups have a nice midrange growl. The finish crack at the heal of the neck is not structural. I gave it the luthier’s stress test (pushed real hard on it!) and it ain’t going nowhere. SOLD: Jordan, Univox, Ampeg. The last two are not for sale. I love old 60’s and 70’s solidstate amps. They always have this punchy round tone that I love...very different from today’s solidstate. This neat looking SG copy came in with the neck hanging off and some really lame pickups and knobs. I could see definite potential in it considering it was all mahogany. I glued it back together and found some nice old late 70’s Japanese (Vantage?) pickups in my box of old parts and some classic knobs and I think it came great! I also leveled and dressed the frets and gave it a killer setup. It really sounds great with a lot of bite from the bridge pu. I think it was probably made in China with in the last few years but it definitely has a cool 60’s, 70’s vibe going on with it. Makes me think of the Clapton SG. $700 with a hard case. #dipintoguitars

Ouch! Old Guild S-100 in for repair. Always unplug before you lean your guitar against the amp! To save this one I plan to make a new white guard to keep with the pelham blue Melody Maker vibe and then make an SG-2 style knob plate to cover the hole. Should be fun! #guilds100

The Carvel Charvel or Nailed It Cake-master mystery solved! I’m stripping away at this horrible orange finish some one did to this USA Jazzmaster. The texture has the look of cake icing. In fact some people on my last post were convinced it was actually a cake, not a guitar at all. I’m trying to reveal what is underneath to maybe solve some of the mystery of the worst finish ever applied to a guitar!

Super cool meeting @adamsandler today! He is in town shooting a movie. He needed an acoustic for a recording tonight so I loaded up my car and brought a bunch of guitars to his trailer to try out. He picked out a nice Seagull acoustic but also added a DiPinto Galaxie 2 double humbucker to his collection! Super cool guy and his whole crew was super nice!
