Have you been to doctors and specialists because you just haven't been feeling "quite right" but they all tell you the same thing; your lab tests look "fine" and there's nothing wrong with you. Just okay isn't okay! There's more that can be found and Dr. Cole has those resources! Here at our office, we offer comprehensive nutritional testing through Genova Diagnostics. These tests delve deeper into the root causes and uncover more than the traditional CBC panel can. The nutrition line includes profiles designed to identify and target nutritional imbalances, offering personalized patient recommendations and is covered by most insurances. Call our office today for more information and you can be on your way to feeling your best! 412-856-9001

STRESSED OUT?! Signs you are not handling stress well are.... - poor sleep... - poor/low moods - brain fog/poor memory - food craving, especially sweet and/or salty foods - you are overly sensitive to life ie: you are stress sensitive, you are easily tired out by stress, and/or you don’t sleep well - you have body pain such as migraines, fibromyalgia and muscle spasms - easily irritable/agitated or have a short fuse ... Are also signs of a MAGNESIUM deficiency. When our bodies are under stress, it releases magnesium from cells to BUFFER THAT STRESS. Over time we deplete our cells and ultimately our bodies of magnesium and we are less resilient to stressors. Stress now causes us to lose sleep, get headaches, have poor blood sugar control, get constipated, become depressed, have poor energy and more. I'm putting together a "STRESS PACK" to counteract this runaway stress train. Who's interested?

STRESSSSS Scary? Feel your hands sweat a bit, maybe your pulse elevates somewhat. It's a sympathetic reaction or "fight or flight". We experience this when we experience fear. Some people seem to spend their life in a "fight or flight" reaction. They are constantly stressed and or feel like the can not relax. Like they are being chased by a bear.... Anything that can help with this stress response? Prayer, meditation, deep breathing, removing oneself from the stressful situation or relationship. How about natural remedies? I am glad you asked :D A study in 2006 had subjects who were afraid of heights traverse a suspension bridge that spanned a 150-foot canyon. Halfway across the bridge, the researchers took a saliva sample and measured blood pressure of the participants. What the researchers were looking for in the saliva was the level of secretory IgAan important antibody in saliva that helps fight infection. Typically, during times of stress saliva levels drop, sometimes quite dramatically. In this experiment, subjects experienced drops in secretory IgA levels if they were only given a placebo, but when they were given PharmaGABA, the secretory IgA levels in the saliva were maintained halfway across the bridge and actually increased upon completion of the crossing. What is PharmaGABA? First we have to answer what GABA is. "GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is a neurotransmitter in the brain and central nervous system. It is naturally synthesized from the amino acid glutamate, but some individuals may benefit from additional amounts. While glutamate is an excitatory neurotransmitter, GABA is inhibitory, which helps to balance the stimulating effects of glutamate. GABA slows down the activity of nerve cells and helps prevent them from over-firing. Through this mechanism, GABA serves as a calming agent for the body, helping to combat occasional stress and anxiety. Keeping GABA levels optimal may help support balanced moods and a healthy response to stressful situations." GABA has not been thought to cross the blood brain barrier (BBB) effectively although this is questioned. PharmaGABA is naturally-sourced, bioidentical GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid). It is made via a process where the amino acid glutamic acid (glutamate) is fermented using Lactobacillus hilgardii, the beneficial bacteria also used to ferment many foods including the vegetables in kimchi, the well known Korean dish. PharmaGABA is thought to cross the BBB much more effectively. Areas where Pharma GABA may be helpful are: -Stress (of course) -Anxious thoughts or agitation - Cravings for sugar or alcohol - Concentration and mental clarity in academic settings - Calm focus in preparation for athletic events - Difficulty falling asleep

NASA has found that some species of houseplants can eliminate up to 87 percent of toxins from the air, including formaldehyde, benzene, toluene, trichloroethylene, carbon monoxide and even dust. The best plants found to be the most effective for optimal air quality include: English ivy, spider plants and the Boston fern. One or two plants won't make that much difference. It is recommended to have many plants through-out your home.

SOME very important health information You may have heard about some hospitals in China and the US using IV vitamin C to treat this virus. I'm not going to name... as to not throw up red flags. But I wanted to share some insight on why this would be helpful and what vitamin C aka ascorbic acid is actually doing here and what it can do for you and I to stay healthy. Ascorbic acid, which I will now refer to as AA, is vital for overall health and particularly for our bodies immune system. AA is needed for the function of white blood cells. "So, they are giving AA to patients with the virus in IV form to cure the virus?" No, they are using AA to prevent the damage to vital tissues (like the lungs) that the virus causes. So, repeat I and others are not saying that AA "cures" this virus. We are saying it helps to stem the massive inflammatory storm this virus can cause. Let me explain: Virus ----> activates NLRP3 inflammasome -----> releases IL-1B -----> causes alveolar damage. Uhhh, whatttt??!! Don't worry, this is very deep biochemistry and very few people are aware of this. In simpler terms: Virus-----> turns on the immune system in the cell -----> releases some powerful chemical messengers (in response to an infection) ----> cause damage to the lungs. What is one of the biggest problems if not THE biggest problem with this current virus? The acute respiratory distress syndrome and acute lung injury (ARDS/ALI). Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a type of respiratory failure characterized by rapid onset of widespread inflammation in the lungs. "Acute respiratory distress syndrome and acute lung injury (ARDS/ALI) are often characterized by the accumulation of neutrophils in the lungs and the increased production of inflammatory cytokines, chemokines, proteases and oxidants. The initiation and development of ARDS/ALI is dependent upon the activation of inflammasomes. Inflammasomes are an integral part of our innate immune system. Inflammasomes sense pathogens, danger associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) as well as biological crystals including urate and cholesterol. The activation of inflammasomes releases proinflammatory cytokines interleukin (IL)1 and IL18. Recently, the NLRP3 inflammasome has been identified as key to the induction of ADRS/ALI." "Again, uhhh, whattt???!!" All that above was to point to what I really wanted to explain and get across. The virus causes a massive immune reaction then a massive inflammatory action, which can cause us to suffer in the long term but the body, in it's built in wisdom, see this as a threat to our survival and unleashes hell to try and keep us alive. "So what does this all have to do with AA or an orange?" Virus ----ascorbic acid blocks activation of NLRP3 inflammasome -----> releases IL-1B -----> causes alveolar damage. So vitamin C aka ascorbic acid blocks the activation of this inflammasome which can cause major lung issues. This, in my opinion is a huge deal, as the greatest fears from this virus are the hospitals being overwhelmed by those in need of mechanical respiration. What else can block this inflammasome in addition to ascorbic acid? Here's a hint: Turn your phones and bright lights off at night!
