2/14/21 at 7:45 pm: One thing to note with the upcoming storm is that it will come in two main waves of precipitation. Light snow and icy mix will move across t...he area on Monday and there may be a period where little if any precip is falling Monday afternoon. Heavier snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain will move through Monday night and early Tuesday morning. This is only one ensemble model (the HREF), but it shows the idea of the intensity of precip well. See more

Sun, Dec 13 @ 6 AM | The NOAA NWS Weather Prediction Center Experimental Winter Storm Outlook highlights a large swath of the interior Mid-Atlantic and Northeas...t with a greater than 50% chance of meeting Winter Storm Watch criteria. The WPC Fronts and Weather Type image on the right, valid for Wednesday Morning, looks a lot like a textbook major East Coast winter storm, with a large, cold high pressure system parked over Quebec and a sprawling area of low pressure moving east from the Mississippi Valley and transferring energy to a secondary low on the Atlantic Coast. We'll have more updates on this potential major storm in the coming days. In the meantime, we do still have 1-3 inches of snow in the forecast for south central PA on Monday. Slow moving or nearly stationary thunderstorms with scattered intense rainfall (2+ inches/hour) may produce significant flash flooding across parts of the lowe...r Susquehanna Valley this afternoon and evening. A strong heavy rainfall signal located across an area that is both urbanized and very wet over the last 2 weeks has led to a marked increase in flash flood risk. Flooding on faster responding, smaller streams and creeks is possible, but is highly dependent on the location of heaviest rainfall. Larger (main stem) river flooding is not expected. 8/12/2020|630AM See more
