During the month of October, artist Todd Scalise will be creating a large-scale public art piece on the Erie Skatepark. This project has been funded by the Sisters of Saint Joseph Neighborhood Network (SSJNN) with permission from the City of Erie. This one-of-a-kind project will help promote the skate park throughout the community. The skate park will remain open and fully functional during the project. Sections of the park may be closed off temporarily while Todd paints, but most of the work will be done during off hours. Please be advised that only Todd Scalise has permission to paint in the park. END OF SUMMER JAM! Saturday August 24th, 4-8pm at the Erie Skatepark. Come out and enjoy the last un-official weekend of summer before the school bell rings.

Some dirtbag stole the pool coping that I was going to install on the punkwall at the skatepark sometime between tuesday or wednesday this past week. This really pisses me off! I hope someone knows someone who MIGHT have taken them and they magically reappear. These blocks are very expensive and hard to come by but are basicly useless to the non-skating public. Please put the word out.

Well here is the latest. Some douche nozzle tore down the brand new "NO BIKES" sign at the skatepark over the weekend. I really wish that people like this would do everyone a favor and just disappear. Oh and by the way, just because someone tears down our signs when no one is looking doesn't mean that bikes are now allowed. So whoever was the coward that destroyed our new sign, congratulations, you are the asshole of the week!

Not to beat a dead horse but bikes are still not allowed at the skatepark. Sorry but that is one of the very few rules that we have. On the brighter side, if there are any of you bikers out there who are interested in forming a group of your own, I would be more than willing to assist you in securing a place to ride. Skateboard Competition at Suburban Blend this sunday

Anyone who considers themself a serious SKATEBOARDER in the Erie area really needs to check out "THE JUNGLE" skatepark. Its located in Jamestown, NY. directly above the Suburban Blend skateshop on Pine St. It's less than an hour drive from Erie, and it's all indoors. This place is skater owned and skater built and by far the best round wall in the region. In addition to the bowl, construction is about to begin on the new street course that will be located next to the bowl. For now a temporary street area has been assembled with random boxes, rails and a manny pad until construction is completed. Cost is only $5 a day to ride. Here's an idea I thought about and then thought, "duh, Craigslist already is doing this" - we should trade locally for skate parts and other skate needs. I have a bunch of old trucks, for example, that I'd love to trade for fresh decks, or sell. In lieu of a skatepark to go to and network with people, Craigslist could be a great way to get some trading going on. Thoughts? - Paul Hakel!

the south hubba is ok to skate now. I will be putting the top piece back on in a few days. Now that it is partially fixed please discourage all bikers from causing any more damage by letting them know that they are not welcome at our park. Just remember this, everytime that I have to fix something that is ruined by bikers it is one step further from building a bowl! Lots of wasted time, energy and resorces!

I saw something that made me laugh tonight. An advertisement for Cleveland Indians baseball home games. Kids under 14 get a free skateboard. Isn't this kinda ironic. Luring kids in with free skateboards to watch professional baseball. I love it! Does this mean the world is finally coming to an end? I guess this skateboarding FAD is finally catching on.

"It's a great spot to learn and just have fun with your friends." Kevin Gates, 22, of Erie, has been skating for half of his life. "It's all I do, besides work," said Gates. Gates has been enjoying the Skate Park at Columbus Park in Erie since its opening in Sept. 2009. "It (the skate park) means we have a place to go where we don't have to get arrested by... cops or deal with fines and that hub bub," said Gates. According to Gates, the park is the perfect size for learning new tricks, 10 of which he has learned over the past year. The "weird, nice weather that normally doesn't happen in November" brought Gates and some friends to the park. we are located at west 15th and poplar street in good old Erie, Pennsyltucky! yes we are open but you better bring a pretty hefty flashlight because it is dark right now. If I were you I would try tomorrow when the sun comes up but dont wait too long because you might have to deal with some snow! Then you'd have to bring a snowboard. Word!

GOOD NEWS/BAD NEWS The city has pulled the plug on the quarter pipe project b/c of liability. The good news is that they will allow concrete decking to be constructed on top of the banks. Also on a positive note, money that was allocated for the quarter pipe can now be put towards phase two construction. However, this amount is only a fraction of the overall cost. We still need mucho money so hit up your rich uncle.

here is a pic of the new completed rail. 10' double round shotgun. by the way, some dirtbag stole the old flat rail that I set aside at the park. I was planning on picking it up the next day but someone decided they needed it more. I was going to use it to construct a new ledge at the other end of the park. If anyone knows who jacked it tell em to bring it back!

Hey skatepunx! Local boy Mike Berdis, is set to do some Erie style representing in California, July 29 thru August 1. Michael qualified to skate at the X-Games thru the hometown heroes AM contest. He will skate Friday morning July 30 in the the prelims and if he qualifies for... the finals he goes off Saturday afternoon prior to the pro's. See more
