Focus Karate

Thanks to February being February, Focus Karate will close for in-person classes today, February 18. We WILL still hold out virtual class at 4:30 p.m. Check this week's class email (dated February 14) for the link. Be warm, stay safe, and we hope to see you online at 4:30!

Once again, due to the snow over the last couple of days, Focus Karate will close for all classes today (Tuesday). Stay safe, stay warm, and be ready to train hard on Thursday!!

Due to the snowy weather, Focus Karate will close for all in-person classes today. *The virtual class will still be held at 4:30 p.m.! All students (all ages and ranks), even those previously signed up for in-person classes, are welcome to attend. The link for the class (zoom) is in your email. If you have questions about joining, please email [email protected]. Be safe, and pay attention to this space in case the snow affects tomorrow's class.... Great job to everyone who participated in this morning's rescheduled, socially distant, post-shutdown test! You proved that Focus Karate students can always rise to the occasion with both discipline and adaptability. A special thank you to Bogdan and Darya, both of whom to did an excellent job helping Master Sadowsky run the test. Tang Soo!

It was great seeing everyone who joined our online classes this week! Remember that all classes have been moved to virtual for the next several weeks, and full details and instructions were emailed out over the weekend. Due to the new Philadelphia restrictions, we cannot hold any in-person classes or functions - but we won't let that stop us from training hard (and safely!). We look forward to seeing everyone continuing their training virtually over the next few weeks so that we can return soon without missing a beat!

Remember, our updated schedule begins tonight! Monday, Tuesday, Thursday White/Orange Belt Kids: 6 p.m. Green Belt and Up Kids: 7 p.m.... Adults: 8 p.m. No change to our Saturday schedule.

Two weeks in and classes are going strong. We hope to see all of you back soon. Remember to sign up for classes first, as the city limits us to 10 students at a time. **Remember, unless you have spoken to us already, all accounts have been reactivated for August! This includes those who are staying with virtual classes for the time being. If you have concerns about your account, call us right away!

Unfortunately, due to the rise in COVID-19 cases in Philadelphia, the city has delayed some business reopenings, including ours. We hope we can resume in-person classes by August. In the meantime, please continue to take advantage of the virtual training opportunities, and keep an eye out for details of potential outdoor sessions. Please continue checking your email for additional details and announcements. Remember, one of the most important lessons from the martial arts is to come back strong from adversity. We want to thank everyone who has participated in our various virtual training options. We've been getting great feedback over the past few weeks that they have been helpful and enjoyable. We encourage those of you who haven't checked it out yet to try it so you can practice while connecting with your classmates. Please keep checking your email for details each week (and provide your email address if you haven't already done so).

We hope all of our students and their families are doing well. More details were emailed today about how we can stay connected during these trying times. Next, with the current restrictions on businesses and guidelines on social distancing continuing, the school will unfortunately have to remain closed. Within the next couple of days, we will email additional details, including some ideas for practicing and training while we cann...ot hold classes. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to ask us any questions. We are still checking our voicemail and email and will respond promptly. Thank you all for your understanding during these difficult times, and we look forward to when we can next train together.

IMPORTANT NOTICE for all Focus Karate students: following Governor Wolf's emergency declaration, all classes will be canceled for the next two weeks. While we will miss our Focus Karate family and do not make this decision lightly, taking precautions to keep everyone safe and healthy is most important. While we are closed, we will still have access to all phone (215-330-1730), email ([email protected]), and Facebook messages, so please do not hesitate to contact us dire...ctly with any specific questions. Our current plan is to reopen with our regular schedule on Monday, March 30. We will also consider options for making up for missed classes after that point. Please keep checking this page regularly for updates in case anything with our planned schedule must change. Great job all Focus Karate students at tournament today! 34 students is a new record for us, and we were recognized for bringing the most students today. Thank you everyone for your hard work and support!

A little late, but we still wanted to share the photos from last month's test of our newest black belts getting promoted. Congratulations to Mike, Joel, Bogdan, and Darya on your well-earned promotions! It is always exciting to see our new (and old) black belts together.
