On March 30th each year, National Doctors Day honors the professionals for their dedication and contributions to society and the community. Their dedication puts the patient first time and again. On National Doctors Day, we say thank you to our physicians for all that they do for us and our loved ones. Take the opportunity to thank a physician for responding to late-night phone calls, working long hours, and providing great care. Today, more than ever, we know the sacrifices they make to put the health of their communities first.

Thank you, Pastor Rich, for these great reminders when we’re tempted to let worry have the upper hand let’s run to the One who can help us today! Encouragement & Scripture: When God invades the space of your emotions, worry has to leave. ... Why? Because to know God is to experience His nature, power and love. The presence of God leaves no room for fear, worry, stress, or anything else that may try to bring you down. Jesus explains this and the path to take on our journey to freedom over anxiety. In Matthew 6 He tells us not to worry. He says, Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? Jesus instructs His listeners to look at the birds. Birds do not gather their food for laterthey rest in the reality that God feeds them. Jesus reminds us of our true value to Him when He says, aren’t you worth more than they? Jesus goes on to remind us of what worry can actually accomplish: nothing at all! He continues in verse 27 by questioning whether anyone can add even one moment to their life by worrying. We really need to understand the nature of God and the depth of His love for us. If He will look after the birds, and send His own Son to give us real life by His own death on a cross, how much more will He take care of us, who bear His image? DO NOT WORRY! We are in good hands with our Heavenly Father. Prayer: Father, grant us real peace and lasting strength to know Your calm over our anxiety, worry, fears and stresses. Help us to walk the path You have for us and to trust You, knowing that You love us and are just a prayer away to help us through each day. Amen.

Each year, we look forward to gathering as staff to celebrate the holidays with a lunch at the office. It is always so nice to see everyone and be able to enjoy time spent together. Understandably, in an effort to keep everyone safe and healthy, we are not able to hold our holiday lunch this year. There have been so many difficult moments over the past 9 months but if we look closely, there have also been many silver linings. Grane Hospice is so incredibly lucky to have ea...ch staff member as part of our team and are blessed to see the amount of love and compassion they all put into taking care of our patients and families. As healthcare workers, the worries have been heavy for not only their health but the health of the families and loved ones they have at home. One thing this past year has given us is time to reflect and in many ways has slowed down our busy lives and given us more family time. This year, instead of gathering with our work family sharing a lunch, we wanted to give each employee something to gather with their own family this holiday season. Grane Hospice Care will be giving their staff a homemade pie from The Piekarnia Bakery to enjoy with their family. We hope you each have a wonderful holiday season filled with rest and spending time reflecting on truly what is important.

Thanks, Pastor Rich, for this wonderful Christmas reminder & blessing! Scripture & Encouragement: In the Christmas story we read about this promise of hope:... The angel said unto them, ‘Do not be afraid! I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is the Messiah, the Lord.’ Luke 2:10-11 Many who trust God know this popular passage well, but in the face of great pain, suffering and adversity, we often forget its real meaningeven at Christmas. Heartache, grief, pain or anger can easily cause us to lose sight of the fact that this is the season we celebrate God sending His Son to step into the mess of our lives so we can have hope and joyno matter what may be swirling around us. This year has certainly not been easy for anyone with all the difficult events taking place in our world. But maybe this year has proven even more difficult because of personal situations & concerns. Whatever the reason, if your Christmas spirit feels crushed and you’re lacking joy or feeling void of hope, remember that in the midst of certain changes in our lives, Jesus and His love for us never changes. Redirecting our thoughts to focus on the hope and joy available to us because of His holy birth can restore even the most broken spirit. Prayer: Dear Lord, you know the heaviness of my heart this Christmas. Please help me to refocus on You and the fact that You sent Your Son to this earth as a baby so I could live with hope despite my circumstances. Refresh my Christmas spirit and infuse me with the joy I long to have. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Thanks, Pastor Ruthie, for this week’s wonderful reminders of Lightnot just at the end of this tunnel, but God lighting our way through it as well. Encouragement & Scripture: It’s the most wonderful time of the year!... Have you noticed all of the Christmas lights on display? I think many went up earlier than usual this year to boost our spirits due to being in a difficult season. The first Christmas lights were introduced in 1882 by Edward Johnson, a friend and partner of Thomas Edison! Before that candles were used to symbolize the celebration of the fact that light had come into the world through Jesus Christ. With light comes hope at the dawning of each new day. With light came hope that first Christmas day. Jesus said, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. John 8:12 As we notice the many beautiful light displays, or the shining star, let us be reminded that they are there to point us to the True Light that came to us first as a Baby. The Word became flesh and lived for a while among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14) Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for this beautiful season of the year, and I thank You for my colleagues who give tirelessly of themselves to help othersevery single day. I pray that the blessings they receive may mean even more than the hours they work. I pray for a season of peace and rest to be upon us as You light our way. Amen.
