Bishop Canevin High School Varsity Hockey Team's December 30th Charity game was an emotional one. It all started last summer when several members of the te...am volunteered at City Mission's Crabtree - Kovacicek Veterans House. While visiting they noticed the plaque honoring the Veterans House namesake, Marine LCpl Ryan Kovacicek, a Canevin alum who lettered in hockey. They also had a connection to Ryan through the Southpointe Rinkrats. After some research, all of the teammates unanimously decided to donate a portion of the proceeds from the game to the Veterans House to honor Ryan & his sacrifice. Ryan's mother, Judi Kovacicek was at the game and told the team she was so very proud of them and that it was truly an honor for her to attend. "I was very touched by their act of patriotism honoring my son Ryan." Thank you Bishop-Canevin Varsity Hockey Team for your kindness!
