Sleepy's name fits him well--he always looks like he's just woke up! He is a very large cat who just wants to cuddle! His favorite place to be is lounging and just watching what's going on around him. He doesn't care to be picked up, but would be a great companion cat. We did see a different side of him when he was given some catnip. It was as if he were a kitten again. Just like many of our other kitties, Sleepy came to us from a bad situation and was afraid and unsure. ...He didn't want to come out of his cage no matter how hard the staff tried. They introduced him to another kitty named Pickles (who has found his home!) and he started to come out of his shell. He now runs the cat colony in between naps! We feel Sleepy would do best in an adult home or a home with older children.

Hey hey what do ya say? It's #fureverhomefriday! Today we are hearing from Bailey, who was adopted all the way back in 2009! I adopted Bailey back in 2009 from you. I had been cruising petfinder.com when his photo caught my eye, I had always loved big orange cats, but then I read his story. Back then Bailey went by the name Fireball. He had been thrown in a fire by cruel teens in an attempt to burn him alive. He had to have his tail amputated, has permanent burns to his he...ad/ears/paws, & is partially blind in an eye...and he's the BEST cat I've ever had! I've taken him anywhere from nursing homes to visit residents to cruising tractor supply to pick out toys. He loves his life & is spoiled rotten & lives with his "sister," Lucy." We are so happy that Bailey is doing so well! This is why we do what we do. Every animal deserves a loving home to live out their lives.

It’s that time of year!! Our annual Dawg Gone Flea Market will be open May 1 & 2! Proceeds will benefit Indiana County Humane Society. The League of Women’s Voters will also be on site! Graycie is a mellow cat. She enjoys her quiet time. She will come to you for attention when she's ready, but doesn't like to be picked up. She would do very well in a quieter home.

Did you know that we are an adoption guarantee shelter? Whether it's 5 weeks or 5 years (or longer), we will care for our animals every day until they find their furever home. Some things to keep in mind about our adoption guarantee title: -Our animals are free to live out their lives at our shelter until their furever home is found. We don't euthanize to create space.... -On rare occasions, it is medically necessary for an animal to be humanely euthanized. This is true for all animal rescue facilities. -While there is no governing body or organization that determines who receives a "no-kill" status, it is agreed upon that a 90% animal placement rate allows an organization to be designated no-kill facility. ICHS meets that definition. -The Indiana County Humane Society has had the stigma of being a kill shelter for years. That is not the case. We do our best to find every animal a well-deserved and loving home.

29 year old Winn is looking for a home! When she came to us, she was in bad condition. She is now healthy and ready to go to her new home. She may be an Appaloo...sa Cross. Nothing is tighter than the bond of two kitties! Jaya and Paris are looking for their furever homes, together! They have spent their 9 months of life together, and they plan on spending the rest of it that way. Sawyer is an independent boy who is a little awkward at first, but he comes around once he is comfortable. Once he knows that he can trust the new situation, he is actually pretty playful! He is still shy around new people, so it may take a longer visit or a few visits to get to know him. But we know he will learn the new ways of the house and would eventually do really well. He just needs more time to get comfortable. While he isn't a huge cuddler, he does occasionally ask... for attention via pets and playtime. He is just a little scared and needs time to learn that the world isn't so bad. If you are interested in Sawyer, you can submit an application and once approved, we will set up a meet & greet!

We are starting a new collection called #FureverHomeFriday! First up is Moonlight, now named Luna! "I adopted Moonlight a few weeks ago and wanted to give an update! She is an absolute doll! I changed her name to Luna (kept the same theme ). She loves playing with my other two cats and is constantly running around chasing them. She loves toys and is just absolutely so sweet! Angelo is looking for a home where he can relax and get lots and lots of hugs! Angelo is a playful cat who has a lot of kitty energy. He is more shy at first but he warms up quickly once he knows he can trust you. He LOVES hugs, if he gets overwhelmed a deep pressure hug will help him feel better. He seems interested in other cats, so he would most likely benefit from another cat in the home, but he may also be fine by himself as long as he has someone to play with sometimes.
