Following the event that took place last month in Houston, the series of webinar #weareISSNAF continues. Yesterday, Philadelphia had the honor to host the second episod...e. After a brief welcoming speech, the Consul General PIER FORLANO introduced the President of ISSNAF, dr. CINZIA ZUFFADA. She gave the floor to the journalist MARIA TERESA COMETTO who conducted the interview during the event. The guest speaker of yesterday’s webinar was Dr. ANTONELLA NOTA, Hubble Project Scientist for the European Space Agency and ESA Office Head at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore. Well-known published author. The main topic of the event was the Hubble Space Telescope (Hubble), a large, space-based observatory, which has revolutionized astronomy since its launch and deployment by the space shuttle Discovery in 1990. After 30 years in orbit, Hubble continues its relentless investigation into a broad range of astrophysical objects and phenomena, ranging from our own Solar System to the most distant galaxies, to the distribution of dark matter in galaxies and clusters, from the characterization of the atmospheres of newly discovered exoplanets, to the precise studies of relative motions of nearby stars, to tracing the expansion of the Universe. During the event, Dr. Nota showed some very suggestive images taken by the Hubble. These beautiful pictures connected directly our minds with our souls, sparking the big questions that humanity has been pondering for ages: where do we come from? Are we alone in the Universe? What is our place in space?
