Good Life Organics, a Reading based juice/smoothie shop, has opened a new location in Lancaster. The cafe takes a spot 301 N. Queen St. that was recently occupied by Commonwealth on Queen, whose owners shifted focus to their new café in western Lancaster city. For Good Life Organics, the corner spot at Queen and Walnut streets features smoothies and smoothie bowls alongside juices, yogurt parfaits and toasts. Sandwiches, soups and salads will eventually be added.

Trick-or-treating in the City of Lancaster will proceed as scheduled on Friday, October 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. While trick-or-treating will be permitted, the City of Lancaster, PA Government encourages families to consider lower-risk activities as an alternative to traditional trick-or-treating. Those who choose to take part in traditional trick-or-treating are doing so at their own risk and should understand how to prevent the spread of COVID-19 before participating. Women-owned and operated Owl Hill Learning Center opens its new location at 313 W. Liberty Street on Nov. 2. Moving from the existing 530 N. Queen Street location to the Liberty Place building will allow for a capacity of 135 children ranging from infant to school-age spread over 10 classrooms. The new site also includes a large outdoor playground area.

Lancaster city’s drinking water system is on track for more than $10 million in upgrades intended to ensure uninterrupted service to ratepayers even during emergency situations. That’s the case after it was announced Wednesday that the city was awarded a $10.55 million low-interest loan through the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority. The loan is expected to cover the cost of installing three emergency power generators, as well as the construction of 7,500 feet of water main, according to the announcement from Gov. Tom Wolf's office.

Ladies and gentlemen, the curtain is about to go up. These are the last words Robert Brock speaks before a show at the Lancaster Marionette Theatre begins. Fittingly, they are the first words spoken in a new documentary about him, too. Marionette Land is the second full-length documentary from Lancaster filmmaker Alexander Monelli, after 2017’s successful At the Drive-in, about Lehighton, Pennsylvania’s Mahoning Drive-in.... Marionette Land is less a look at the theater, a Lancaster institution that celebrates three decades this year, and more an examination of the wonderfully eccentric Brock, 63, who writes, performs, directs and builds marionettes. (And, as he is keen on mentioning, he cleans the toilets at the theater, too.)

The Lancaster Office of Promotion is excited to announce that the Lancaster City Visitor Center will reopen on Tuesday, October 27th. The Visitor Center located at 38 Penn Square next to the Lancaster Central Market will be open on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm.
