This weekend showed some real dedication of the members at Londonderry Fire Company. Saturday started with members gathering at the firehouse in the morning around 0830 to take Santa around the Community to hand out treats to all the kids, approximately 200 bags of treats were handed out. At the conclusion of Santa's sleigh ride (boat ride) members separated all donated food for families in need in the community. While separating the Engine assisted Elizabethtown Fire Depa...rtment with reported structure fire. Sunday morning began at 0217 with a reported outside fire in the area of the Met-Ed substation on River Road. Upon arrival it was discovered that one of the 3 active transformers was on fire. Fire Department remained on the scene until around 0500 when it was turned over to Met-Ed personnel to deenergize and ground so that the fire could be extinguished. While Met-Ed secured the scene members gathered to spread holiday cheer to the 12 families and children by delivering the food supplies and gifts that were donated. Then Met-Ed advised around 0900 that the scene was secure and extinguishment could occur. Engine, Tanker and Chief 54 returned to the scene along with the Foam Trailer and Tanker from Lower Swatara Township Fire Company and a Tanker from Bainbridge Fire Company. Foam Operations began at 1041 hours and control was marked at 1401 hours. While on the scene on River Road a crew also handled a medical assist incident in the Township. Crews returned to the station around 1530 hours and began the clean up process. Things were completed around 1630 hours and the members were released to return to their families.
