I have an increasing concern about the way that society is vilifying people with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. This is a complicated and nuanced diagnosis (as are all characterological disorders). Many people suffer from the lack of empathy and self-absorption, including those with the diagnosis, and the people who love them. The concept of Narcissistic Abuse is real, and should not be tolerated.... Both victims and perpetrators deserve treatment. It is also important to remember that not all narcissists are abusive. I urge all of us to use caution when using the word "narcissist" or "narcissistic". It is not an adjective synonymous with abuse. If you're interested in hearing a few more of my thoughts on the matter, I've included a link to an article in the comments.

This article isn't as racy as it sounds, but I should warn that there is some therapist self-disclosure!

I love every single one of my clients. I truly do. It's obviously not romantic or sexual, or even maternal love. It's a love that comes from raw vulnerability, trust, and shared inspiration.... There are so many things my clients might wonder about how I really feel, and they might not believe me if I told them. So I have written an article sharing all the things I want my clients to know. Let's focus on love this year for Valentine's Day instead of pressure to be in a romantic relationship if you're not, or pressure to spend a lot of money. Don't worry it's the only kind of war I'll ever condone: passive resistance :)

Many thanks to Wendy Bruton for a really great conversation about harmony and humility in relationships. This was my first podcast interview, and it was lots of fun!

This is no joke. The science behind this is real, so if you don't have a dog, this article might just be the extra little nudge you need :)

We are aware that private couples therapy is expensive and many do not have access to services. I am on a personal mission to share what I know. I believe in the power of prevention and positive consistent routines (even though they may not be as exciting or sexy as falling in love). Obviously, a blog post can't replace an assessment by a licensed professional, but this is as close as you can get to DIY relationship assessment. You are the expert on your own relationship so i...t might be worth it to take a personal inventory to see if you are where you want it to be. I don't give advice that's not science-backed, and I specifically use the Gottman Method, created by John and Julie Gottman and their team. I hope you find this helpful in taking a bird's eye view at your romantic relationship to decide if there are any improvements you'd like to make.
