Yesterday, I received one of the greatest honors I could only dreamed of, it was even more special that it was done in the presence of my mother and siblings. ... I was presented with a proclamation and the first ever Key to the City from the mayor of my hometown of Hatillo. I can’t describe the emotions I felt in accepting this amazing gesture on behalf of all the individuals of my great City of Reading who allow me to represent them as the mayor wherever I go. The Key to the City is an honor usually given by the mayor to an illustrious personality or an individual whom is highly respected. The Key to the City is presented to an important personage by a locality as a form of public recognition. I’d like to thank the Honorable José "Chely" Rodríguez Cruz, once again, for not only this amazing recognition, but for welcoming me to my birthplace with open arms. Español.... Ayer recibí uno de los honores más grandes en los que yo haya podido soñar, fue aún más especial que se hiciera en presencia de mi madre y mis hermanos. Se me hizo entrega de la llave de la ciudad que me vio nacer y una proclama por parte del alcalde de Hatillo. No puedo ni describir las emociones que sentí al aceptar este gesto increíble en nombre de todos las personas residentes de mi gran ciudad de Reading que me han permitido representarlos como su alcalde a donde quiera que yo vaya. La llave de la ciudad es un honor y reconocimiento que los alcalde suelen dar a una personalidad ilustre o muy respetada y que haya sobresalido en algún momento. Es confiada a una persona importante por una localidad como una forma de reconocimiento público por su trayectoria o ejecutorias. Quiero agradecer una vez más al honorable Alcalde José Chely Rodriguez Cruz no sólo por este asombroso reconocimiento, sino por recibirme en mi ciudad natal con los brazos abiertos.

Today I was invited to visit the Mayor of Hatillo office, the Hon. José "Chely" Rodríguez Cruz and It’s an honor for me to receive this recognition from this wo...nderful municipality where I was privileged to be born. Hatillo, Puerto Rico, is always with me wherever I go and I also welcome establishing diplomatic relations and building bridges with other mayors and municipal governments across the island. Today, I humbly accept this award from the government of my native Hatillo and acknowledge the love and generosity of my fellow Puerto Ricans. I am honored by their kind words of praise and look forward to continuing the special bond we’ve forged with the City of Reading. Everyone will know that we are building a better Reading together! While I’m here in Puerto Rico, yesterday I took the opportunity to meet and have breakfast with the Mayor of my hometown of Hatillo, who has served for more tha...n 16 years. The Hon. José "Chely" Rodríguez Cruz. Also in the meeting were Mr. Jose (Tato) Rodriguez Cruz the President of the Municipal Legislature, Mr. Daniel Padilla the Director of Public Relations and Media of that Municipality and my brother Danny. We were able to exchange ideas and experiences for the benefit of our respective cities. At the end we exchanged memorabilia of our Cities as a reminder of our meeting. Español.. Durante mi estadía en Puerto Rico, ayer aproveché para reunirme y desayunar con el alcalde por más de 16 años de mi Ciudad natal Hatillo. El Hon. Jose (Chely) Rodriguez Cruz, El Presidente de la Legislatura Municipal Sr. Jose (Tato) Ruiz Morales, el Director de Relaciones Publicas y Prensa Sr. Daniel Padilla de dicho Municipio y mi hermano Danny. En dicha reunión pudimos intercambiar ideas y experiencias para el beneficio de nuestras respectivas Ciudades. Al finalizar intercambiamos memorabilia de nuestras Ciudades como un recuerdo de nuestra reunión.

Today we enjoyed an amazing dinner cooked by Ruthie and as we stood around the table to give thanks, we reflected on the many challenges we face this year. Tha...nksgiving is a time to reflect on the many blessing we have in our lives. For many of us it is a time to share our blessings with family and friends and to take stock in everything good in our lives. This Holiday let’s not forget those who are less fortunate, or away from their families overseas protecting our freedoms, or those who have lost loved ones this past year, specially if they lost their battle against Covid. Today is the time to step out of ourselves and think about others and what we can do to better their lives. Español... Hoy hemos disfrutado de una grandiosa cena confeccionada por Ruthie y mientras nos paramos alrededor de la mesa para dar gracias a Dios, reflexionamos sobre los muchos desafíos que enfrentamos este año. El Día de Acción de Gracias es un momento para reflexionar sobre las muchas bendiciones que tenemos en nuestras vidas. Para muchos de nosotros es un momento para compartir nuestras bendiciones con los familiares y amigos y hacer un balance de todo lo bueno que hay en nuestras vidas. Este día de fiesta no olvidemos a los menos afortunados, o a los que están lejos de sus familiares en el extranjero protegiendo nuestras libertades, o a los que han perdido a sus seres queridos este pasado año, y especialmente si perdieron su batalla contra el Covid. Hoy es el momento de nosotros mismos salir y pensar en los demás y en lo que podemos hacer para mejorar sus vidas.
