Squad, Mini, Traffic, and Chief 133 responded to the infamous Bernheisel Bridge Narrows for a two vehicle accident Sunday afternoon. Crews arrived to find one vehicle off the road and a battery acid spill from one of the damaged vehicles. The Squad and Mini crews each handled one vehicle and its debris. Crews used a saw to remove saplings and the portable winch to assist Miller and Sam’s getting the vehicle back up the embankment. Fire Police had the road closed at the normal locations. 3 people were transported by EMS. Crews operated about an hour.

Over the past 6 months the New Kingstown Fire Company has seen an influx in new members; and there was no marketing campaign or any special membership drive conducted. This trend continues even back a year ago. This weekend six of our newer members began their path in training at HACC with the introduction to the fire service class. We appreciate those who’ve joined up with us as well as those who’ve been here for the long haul and keep us going day after day. The process of ...teaching and sharing our knowledge developed year after year never ends and is especially true now more than ever as we welcome these members into our family! It’s always difficult coming into an established organization from the outside so let’s keep our arms open and work together; it can only make us stronger!! Working together will allow us to continue to accomplish great things, respond with trained members, and grow as a company!! See more

The Tuesday training topic covered chimney fire operations. Members reviewed equipment carried on the apparatus and then conducted a simulated chimney fire at a member’s residence. It was a good night for review and time for newer members to learn the overall operation combined with some basic ropes and knots as well as ladder techniques. Thanks to those who came out and to the Gutshall’s for use of their house and for the snacks provided afterwards!! This type of hands on training is beneficial to insure and actual incident is handled correctly.
