The Long Community at Highland was excited to welcome back independent residents for indoor dining on May 3rd!
Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers out there! We hope you are celebrated today! Check out some moms at St. Andrew's Village posing during a photobooth activity!
During National Nurses Week, we want to shout out Patricia Anderson, a nurse at Windy Hill Village who was locally nominated as a Hometown Hero. Patty is a mother of two who continued to work on the front lines not only during the height of the COVID-19 outbreak but also during a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. Patty is a wonderful example of the spirit of a nurse, who continues to serve others, no matter what. Thank you, Patty, for your service! Your hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed!
As part of their 2021 theme, Reflection and Reconnection, Westminster Woods at Huntingdon residents and staff gathered for their annual spring clean-up day. Sprucing up the campus grounds was the order of the day and rakes and shovels were the tools. A picnic lunch was provided to all participants. To cap the day off, the team dedicated a newly planted birch tree as a symbol of renewal!
Some of the residents at St. Andrew’s Village wanted to show off a few projects they have completed to keep busy during the pandemic! Check out the beautiful quilts and blankets they have made!
Cathedral Village hosted a Halloween Dog Parade for the residents in the health center. In previous years, residents would enjoy a Halloween parade from the kids in the local daycare, but with COVID-19 restrictions, the community life staff improvised and invited staff and their four-legged friends!
Residents of Green Ridge Village are still enjoying bingo, social distanced style!
Happy Halloween! 2020 has been a crazy year, but nothing can stop the Halloween fun! Check out how both Westminster Woods at Huntingdon and St. Andrew’s Village celebrated Halloween with things like reverse trick-or-treat, a photo booth, hallway dancing to Thriller, Ghostbusters and the Monster Mash, all while maintaining social distancing and following COVID-19 precautions!
The days are getting shorter, the nights are cooler, and people are planning their next bonfire. You know what else that means? Apple picking and apple-eating season have arrived! To help celebrate this season, the dining services staff at the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg invited residents to the Oakmont Dining Room where they provided samplings of apple butter and apple cider from Peach Hill Orchard. There were other treats, as well: fresh apples, apple dumplings, caramel apples, and many more available goodies for purchase!
Please help us in congratulating Maggie Bowley on her promotion to Vice President of Resource Development! James Bernardo, President & CEO of PSL said, Maggie has been an effective fundraising leader in all her roles with PSL. She has led some of the most successful campaigns in PSL’s history and has the confidence of her colleagues, our board and our donors. I am confident under Maggie’s leadership PSL will succeed at advancing our philanthropic support.

The St. Andrew's Village community life and dining service departments worked together to plan an Oktoberfest celebration. Residents requested good beer, soft pretzels and cheese sauce. The residents kept busy with an activity packet by volunteer Rebecca Sterley, which included interesting facts about beer, a word search puzzle on Oktoberfest beer, and interesting facts about Oktoberfest. This event was a huge hit and the residents had a great time... you can tell by the smiles on their faces! A big thank you to both departments for their hard work to make this special event possible!
Check out these photos from Glen Meadows Retirement Community "Cruise Week!" Staff members Dawn French-Evans and Jennifer Ashcroft celebrated Tacky Tourist Day and resident Doris L. showed off her around the world passport!
Kitty Rosato got to celebrate her 93rd Birthday with an outside visit with her daughter, Lottie and son-in-law, Walt Allen. She hasn’t seen them in person since Cathedral Village restricted health center visitations in March. Happy tears were shed in this joyous occasion! Lottie expressed that she was happy to be back at Cathedral Village because she not only missed her mom but also the staff, as she considers them family! Please help us in wishing Kitty a very happy belated birthday!
Agnes and Margaret Shera enjoying their outside, socially distanced, mother-daughter visit using the Eversound Headphone System at Glen Meadows Retirement Community! #evermoments
With football season in full swing, the Glen Meadows Retirement Community staff put together a Ravens "tailgate" party for the residents to enjoy!
A few Quincy Village residents enjoyed a beautiful fall day along the Antietam Creek on the campus painting pumpkins together! (socially distanced, of course!)
