Sunday, October 6, 2019 9:00 am-5:00 pm Apple Cider Festival Prince Gallitzin State Park will host its annual Apple Cider Festival and Craft Show on Sunday, October 6, 2019 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, at Muskrat Beach Area #2. The festival features over 100 craft vendors, 20 food vendors, live entertainment from the bands Ride the Song and Tree, hayrides, a petting zoo, chainsaw carving, apple cider demonstrations, environmental education programs and more! Admission is free with donations accepted for parking. All donations collected by the Friends of Prince Gallitzin State Park will go toward supporting projects and events for the park. In effort to alleviate traffic, there will be pontoon boat shuttles leaving from Killbuck Boat Launch (Sailboat Area) from 9am to 5pm. There will also be buses shuttling people from Prince Gallitzin Marina to the festival area from 9am to 5pm. Both shuttle services are free, with donations being accepted. Individuals requiring ADA parking, with large strollers or pets will be instructed to park at the Muskrat Beach Area. Today is a big day for me. It's a day that I have been waiting for, for years. A day that almost doesn't feel real, but I know it is. It's a day that I can't qu...ite smiling about. It's the day I quite my job. In 2006 I applied to power systems institute. This is a lineman school organized by penelec. The year I applied there were 440 applicants and the program excepted 22. I was very happy to be chosen. I believed this was going to be a great career, and don't get me wrong it is a very good job. Over the years being a lineman was very rewarding and very challenging. I began to realize working for a big corporation wasn't were I wanted to be. There was a key event that light a fire in me to change that. My wife and I discussed this topic many times and decided we want to make our own living. Two years ago we purchased the former Old Country Store located by Prince Galltzin State Park. We immediately began renovations on the store and house now two years later. The house is a vacatin rental named Tacketts Country Cottage, and we renamed the store Tacketts General Store which will be open for business April 18th at 6am. Also located in the store building is Connelly's Barber Shop a barber of 36 years and Tacketts repair shop where I do welding (steel & alumimum), fabricating, cnc plasma service, small engine repair and more.
