WE DID IT! We have a #uartsunion Election Agreement with The University of the Arts! Direct action gets the goods - thank YOU for your support as we pushed back on the attempts to weaken our union right from the start by President David Yager & the anti-union law firm Morgan Lewis. Emails to President Yager and Board from over 140 supporters & our delivery of our Solidarity Petition with over 1500 signers helped this happen! Now we're prepping to WIN an UNION for the major...ity of UArts faculty, both adjunct and full-time. Ballots will be mailed October 20 and counted on November 24! This morning, The University of the Arts faculty and students, along with United Academics of Philadelphia & PMA Union supporters, delivered our Solidarity Petition to UArts President David Yager at his center city philly condo, to tell him we want a fair #uartsunion election agreement, TODAY. 1,500 names of UArts students, alumni, parents, other university faculty, and philly arts & labor community supporters of a #uartsunion took up 8 pages! We were joined by a PMA Union ...rep from Afscme District Council 47 because the Philadelphia Museum of Art, like UArts, has hired anti-union firm Morgan Lewis to weaken their union, and we are standing together to build worker power for all Philly arts workers! UPDATE: Not only has The University of the Arts hired anti-union law firm Morgan Lewis to try to weaken our #uartsunion, they are now deliberately STALLING the election process. UArts President David Yager shows his complete lack of respect for faculty by pushing back the hearing date that the National Labor Relations Board had set for tomorrow. "Stall & delay" is a well-known tactic to weaken union campaigns, and with our overwhelming support for a #uartsunion it's a true w...aste of time & resources. It's now the 4th week since we announced our faculty union campaign & there is NO reason we shouldn't have an election agreement by now.
