Mackenzie Roberts-Moore says "Following graduation in December, I plan to pass my NCLEX and begin my career as a nurse on an oncology unit at UPMC Shadyside. I could not be more thankful for all of my amazing professors and classmates that have helped me achieve this goal and been a part of these last four years."

Aaron Fyock says "I plan to work at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center on the inpatient psychiatric unit. I plan to gain nursing experience and attend nurse practitioner school. "

My name is Maddie Ivory, and I am graduating The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown School of Nursing in December 2020. My plans after graduation is to begin my nursing career on a labor and delivery unit at a hospital in Pittsburgh. From there I hope to gain knowledge and experience in the field so I can then further my career and attend a program for Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner where I will pursue my DNP.

Raychel Wertz tells us: "My plans for after graduation are to pass the NCLEX as soon as possible! I'm currently in the interview process for a Progressive Care Unit position at UPMC Passavant. I have plans to go to grad school and get my Masters, most likely in Education so I can become a clinical instructor. I'd like to do travel nursing at some point in my career as well!" Raychel is a Vira I. Heinz Program for Women in Global Leadership Scholar. She studied First aid and Wilderness Response in the Himalayan Mountains.

This fall UPJ will have 8 students graduate. We are so proud of each of them. Casey Gardner will graduate in December 2020. After graduation he plans on continuing to work at UPMC Somerset until next September at which point he will re-enlist in the AirForce. His end goal is to become a Nurse Practitioner.

Pitt-Johnstown is one of the first nursing programs in Pennsylvania to benefit from Survivors Teaching Students Program traditionally presented to medical students. Nursing students quickly realized how important nurses are to ovarian cancer patients. Thank you Betsy Wallace (a survivor herself) for connecting us with 4 brave women and their stories. The students gained a whole new perspective from them. www.orca.org
