In another Beautification Day shoutout tonight, thank you to Lauren Sovinsky-Goodlavage and Randy Goodlavage for all of the boulders that they donated for this year’s projects at DeLong Hall! When we ran out of mulch, they also purchased additional mulch for down at the Route 54 and Strawberry Ridge Road intersection! Thanks again guys!

Today we give a Beautification Day shoutout to Sori’s Lawn Care & Landscaping LLC. Sori’s Lawn Care & Landscaping LLC donated mulch for the DeLong Park, DeLong Hall, and the old Methodist Church Cemetery along Pear Alley. Owner Anthony Sori has run a very successful business in the Danville area in recent years and has recently expanded operations to the Old Village Inn. We are excited to see Mr. Sori’s business thrive at the Route 54/254 intersection for years to come!

Our page will be running a series of acknowledgment posts over the next few days as a thank you to our various volunteer and donor groups that supported this year’s beautification day. First up is Kurt Weiss Greenhouses which has facilities about two miles outside of town. A majority of this year’s volunteers are from the greenhouses and reside at a couple of the houses in town here. We appreciate their hard work and goodwill gesture. An additional thank you as well for the numerous plant donations for DeLong Hall, DeLong Park, and the PA Route 54/Strawberry Ridge Road intersection! Town is looking great today!

Thank you to all of our volunteers and donors that made the 7th Annual Washingtonville Beautification Day a grand success. In all, we had about forty volunteers in town today from eight to noon. We’ll give some individual shout outs to our volunteer and donor groups this week. In the meantime, check out the photos of today’s work.

The borough has received complaints from residents recently about an increase in dog waste not being cleaned up by owners. Just a friendly reminder that failure to clean up dog waste on property that is not your own is a $100-$300 fine plus court costs, if documented. Residents are welcome to forward pictures or security camera evidence of violators to this page. Thank you.

Big thank you to Bob, Ben, and Brian Stoudt for their help the last few weekends wrapping up our last park project of 2020! Their generous donations to our efforts are also greatly appreciated! The park is looking great with its new bike rack and repurposed Washingtonville sign! Look for bike route information posted at the kiosk in the future!

As a part of Tuesday night’s borough council meeting, a resolution was passed to spread awareness about Thrombocytopenia-absent radius syndrome. Caedyn Parotte suffers from this syndrome, although it does not stop him from living the fun filled life that his brothers and sisters live! Pictured below is Shawna Parotte along with her children Braelyn, Daelyn, Caedyn, Aedelyn, and RJ. Missing from the photo is husband and father, Rob, who also serves in the national guard!

Halloween is coming up and a lot of residents have been asking about trick or treating in the borough this year. The borough is not going to endorse trick or treating this year but will ultimately leave the decision to individual households. If you have a child and are comfortable trick or treating, 6-8 pm on Halloween night has traditionally been the time that this has occurred. If you are a household that is comfortable giving out candy, leave your porch light on to notify ...trick or treaters. Anyone that participates in trick or treating is enouraged to follow the current state and federal orders concerning COVID-19. Masks, use of hand sanitizer, and social distancing are all strongly encouraged. Putting candy into individual bags or just leaving treats on porches are also ideas to consider, if you wish to participate this year.
