On January 8, 2021 at approximately 1:00 AM an unknown subject broke a wiper arm to a vehicle parked in the 400 block of East Rosedale Ave., West Chester Borough. The suspect is described as a white male wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt displaying a unknown logo on the chest area and dark sweatpants. As part of the Department's intensive field training program, newly hired officers Blue and Kuehn participated in a patrol tactics training this past Friday. In this example, officers are conducting a high risk felony stop, commonly used when taking a potentially violent felon into custody. The West Chester Borough Police Department continues to investigate a shooting incident which took place on January 2, 2021 at 3:06 AM. The shooting took place at Hookah Matata, located at 27 West Gay Street, West Chester Borough. Both victims in this case continue to recover from injuries they received as a result of this crime. The shooting suspect is described as a black male who fled the scene and travelled out of the Borough in a silver Chevrolet Equinox SUV. ... Earlier today our Communication Division received a call from a resident saying her pet cat had fallen into a basement well. Officers responded and sure enough, kitty was about 15 feet down an old basement well. WCPD summoned assistance from our friends at the Fame Fire Co. No. 3. Stolen Vehicle Investigation On October 31, 2020 WCPD responded to West Chester Cycle Center located at 739 Downingtown Pike, East Bradford Township for a report of a stolen motor vehicle. Upon arrival the victim reported sometime between 5:30 PM on October 30, 2020 and 8:00 AM on October 31, 2020 a black 1988 GMC Seirra pickup truck with a 2007 Norwin trailer attached was stolen from the business along Downingtown Pike. ... The GMC truck is described as being all black with black rims and the paint on the hood is wearing away. Tomorrow is Halloween... Time for Tricks and Treats.. This year shall be a little different as many things have been. Traditionally, Trick or Treat has begun around 6:00 PM on October 31st. The Borough issued the following statement on the website: ... The Borough of West Chester does not establish dates or times for Trick-or-Treating. Because of COVID-19 concerns, many people will not be participating in Trick-or Treating this year. Borough residents are reminded to please respect neighbors who do not participate in Trick-or-Treating. The standard practice is to keep your front porch light on if you are participating and to turn it off if you are not. Please practice extra safety this Halloween if heading out!
