Book Review From Chelsea Weibley at the Library In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren... I have another fun holiday romance for you this week! Christina Lauren (writing duo Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings) recently released a Christmas novel and it was a fun one! Maelyn (Mae) Jones in a twenty-six-year-old in an unfulfilling job living with her mother and step-father. Needless to say, life isn’t going the way she had hoped. The story opens on December 26 when Mae and her family are preparing to leave their annual Christmas week with family friends at a lodge in Utah. The last day of the much-anticipated annual trip is a complete flop as Mae and her family drive away from the lodge, perhaps for the last time. As they are driving, Mae thinks a simple wish, Please. Show me what will make me happy. Suddenly, tires are screeching and Mae awakes on an airplane headed for Utah to begin the holiday again. Thus, Mae embarks on a Groundhog Day type of holiday. Hilarious disasters keep sending Mae back to the airplane headed for Christmas at the Utah lodge. As Mae lives the same days over and over, she needs to figure out what will make her happy and how to get out of the loop. I love Christina Lauren and have enjoyed everything I have read by them. The first few chapters of this book did not draw me in as much as I expected. Andrew, Mae’s crush since childhood, didn’t come off as a promising love interest the first time Mae goes through the holiday. However, as Mae figures out what she wants, what will make her happy and how to go about getting it, the story really picked up and I loved the characters. This romantic holiday read filled with sweet moments between blood family and chosen family was another feel-good Christmas story.
