Our family traditions at this place began when my dad discovered a little ad in the New York Times in 1968! It was my parents’ favorite place on earth to vacation. Our entire family loves it here, great memories!... The rooms are pleasant, fire place in many rooms, some spacious, some a bit cramped. Terrific staff! Owner often on the grounds, he and partners also own Holly Hedge resort nearby. Today, yet another wonderful day in Lumberville, and we walked to New Jersey! There is a quaint walking bridge that takes you from PA to NJ is a matter of moments! It’s 5 minutes walk from 1740 House. We had a wonderful walk through beautiful trails in NJ. You can also walk along the canal path in Pennsylvania. Don’t miss the General Store up the road: oldest continuously operated general store in America. Walking distance to Black Bass Inn: a fabulous menu and meal. We did some Christmas shopping at Peddler’s Village today, and stopped at a wonderful orchard for delicious apples and homemade apple butter. Yum.
