While everyone is getting excited over the planetary alignment of Jupiter and Saturn on December 21st, there is no definitive proof that this event was the Sta...r of Bethlehem that guided the wise men to Jesus. The Gospel of Matthew states, "After they (the Magi) had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed" (Matthew 2:9-10). While the planetary alignment will last only a night or two, this star not only stayed in the sky, it moved before them as they traveled and "stopped over the place where the child was." Since God created the universe and all the stars and galaxies it contains, do you think He would have to wait on two planets to meet up before bringing His Son into the world? While the alignment is certainly worth watching, it is a natural occurrence not the supernatural sign of Messiah. See more
