Since moving to Erie from Indonesia on June 15, 2011, Niken Astari Carpenter has worked hard to serve others and make Erie a better place. As Mayor Schember’s E...xecutive Assistant and the City’s first-ever Liaison to Immigrants and Refugees, Niken works tirelessly to assist all residents who call her office, and helps New Americans feel safe and comfortable while making Erie their new home. "Niken is extremely smart, works incredibly hard, and is one of the most caring people I've ever met," said Mayor Schember. "All who meet her can see her authentic, helping nature.
