Move furniture, carpets, and other belongings off of any wet floors while removing excess water from any items. Remove papers, books, and fabrics that can easily absorb moisture and be damaged. Avoid rooms where ceilings may be sagging as they are at risk of collapsing. What to Avoid after Experiencing a Flood: Never use a home vacuum in an attempt to remove water Minimize tracking water into unaffected areas. Avoid all electrical outlets, plugs, and appliances. Areas that don’t look damaged may still be a risk.
