In case you missed it! District 1 Councilman Bobby Wilson shares the highlights of his first year in office: Councilman Bobby Wilson via The Northside Chronicle: "The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy is working on a nearly $2 million renovation of the North Promenade at Allegheny Commons. So far, the Promenade between Sandusky and Federal Streets has been replaced and furnished with new benches and historically appropriate lighting, diagonal pathways were widened, and 59 trees w...ere planted along the Promenade. Thanks to a new mid-block crossing, a crosswalk, and curb cuts on both sides of Federal Street, park users can now safely continue on the Promenade while crossing this busy street. At another end of the Commons, the West Ohio Street Bridge is being built right now at a cost of $5.2 million. It should hopefully be open by fall of 2021, in time to make it easier for everyone to catch the last ice balls of the year at Gus & Yia Yia’s. As I help build out the City’s 2021 Capital Budget this month, I look forward to launching quite a few more infrastructure projects across the Northside next year." NORTH PROMENADE CONSTRUCTION UPDATE - The North Promenade rehabilitation project continues in the beloved Allegheny Commons Park. The current rehabilitation project (Segment A) spans from the recently completed Northeast Fountain to Federal Street. These updates will provide much-needed improvements to this treasured park such as new pathways, lighting, and trees. We are thrilled to share several construction updates with you, including a few progress pictures that you can vi...ew below. Recently, landscaping work continues throughout the project and will be completed within the next week. Additionally, new lighting to illuminate the North Promenade will be installed during the week of November 9. SAVE THE DATE for an exclusive behind the scenes look at this exciting project with Office of Councilman Bobby Wilson - Pittsburgh District 1 and Parks Conservancy Capital Projects Manager, Brandon Riley on Friday, November 20 at 10:00 A.M. on the Parks Conservancy's Facebook page. We're also sending a huge thanks to volunteers from Duquesne Light Company who recently helped plant more than 50 trees in Allegheny Commons Park as part of the rehabilitation project! As your non-profit partner in the parks, the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy is proud to work with the city of Pittsburgh, the Allegheny Commons Initiative, Pittsburgh's Northside, and many other organizations to bring another completed phase of the rehabilitation to the Northside community.
