Alliance Equine Health Care

We are thrilled to announce the arrival of a third veterinarian to our team at Alliance Equine! Sarah Varnell, DVM, will be joining our veterinary alliance next week! Dr. Varnell is an excellent veterinarian and horsewoman, and all of us at Alliance are very excited that she has chosen to help us continue our mission of promoting the wellbeing of our equine patients here in southeastern Pennsylvania! Dr. Varnell grew up near Wilmington, Delaware where her family still resides.... She was introduced to horses at a young age while attending a camp in Chester County. After catching the horse bug, she continued to feed her equine interests by exercising and caring for horses in Warwick, MD. Over the years she has ridden a range of equestrian disciplines from Western Gaming to Hunter Jumpers. She has also worked with disciplines from dressage to Thoroughbred racehorses. Dr. Varnell traveled to Ohio for her undergraduate degrees before heading across the country to attend the top veterinary school, University of California, Davis. During her time in veterinary school she worked as an equine technician, ran the student chapter of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, and traveled abroad to work with surgeons in Australia. After graduating in 2017 with her D.V.M, she completed a yearlong internship and since then has worked in general practice where she honed her lameness evaluation and ultrasonography skills under a board certified surgeon and lameness experts. Most recently, Dr. Varnell has been practicing equine medicine in Ohio. She is excited to join the Alliance Equine Health Care team and bring her experience with her. She has a variety of professional interests including lameness evaluation, field surgery, ultrasonography, sport horse medicine, and preventative care. Outside of work she can be found spending time with her tripod cat Minnie, baking, and enjoying the outdoors hiking and walking gardens. Dr. Varnell will be attending appointments for the first couple of months with Dr Wright and Dr. Miller, so that she can become familiar with our area and get to know our wonderful patients and clients. Alliance Equine extends a warm welcome to Brett, our newest veterinary assistant! Brett brings with her the same love and passion for horses that the rest of the Alliance Equine team has, plus lots of great experience! We are extremely excited to welcome Brett to the team and look forward to introducing her to all of our lovely clients in the months to come!
