I'm a lucky guy. The right place, right time, right people, and a generous dose of boldness set me off on a very interesting journey. During the past 20 years, I've often been encouraged to share this story with my fellow AOBTA members. But, for one reason or another, I've resisted until now. Maybe the pandemic has given me enough space to step back and take an objective look at my unique shiatsu practice ... enough space to stop seeing it as unremarkable and to accept that s...omeone might actually want to hear the story. It's a story of luck, courage, resilience, adaptation, creativity, service and letting-go ... the same tools we all need to weather the pandemic. So maybe this is a good time to share a tale about finding yourself in a situation where so much is out of your control and not what you expected or wished for and how that can be one of the best things that ever happened to you. Pennsylvania Hospital, in Philadephia, is the first hospital in the nation. It was chartered by the Colonial Assembly in 1751 for the "relief of the sick-poor". Did you know? Jeffrey Yuen is presenting at the convention! Jeffrey C. Yuen is one of the most sought-after teachers of Chinese medicine throughout the world. He is an 88th generation Daoist priest from the Jade Purity School, Lao Tzu sect, and a 26th generation priest of the Complete Reality School, Dragon Gate sect. He apprenticed for more than 20 years in Classical Chinese Medicine and other Daoist healing arts with Master Yu Wen, who transmitted his lineage to Master Yuen before Master Yu Wen’s death at the age of 108. He also studied under the direct tutelage of Lu Xin-Zu, a Daoist priest of the Long Men tradition. He'll be presenting two workshops, for a total of 7 hours, on "Accessing Jing, Qi, and Shen with Chinese Medicine Using Bodywork Techniques."
