For BREAST CANCER PREVENTION and for overall healthy ESTROGEN BALANCE, eat cruciferous #veggies daily! Indole-3-Carbinol (I3C) is a compound that occurs in cruciferous vegetables (like broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, kale, and cabbage) after chewing, cutting, or lightly cooking it. Through digestion, I3C transforms into other bioactive compounds that have an array of health benefits. One of these compounds is diindolylmethane (often known as DIM). ... I3C and DIM and widely known as having anti-cancer effects and anti-estrogenic effects:. -->They promote activity of enzymes that break down and eliminate many biologically active compounds such as hormones (like #estrogen), medications, cancer-causing compounds as well as other toxins. -->I3C and DIM affect multiple signalling pathways that can help kill and stop proliferation of #cancer cells. (PMID 23090135) -->I3C can inhibit the growth of estrogen-sensitive breast cancer cells. (PMID: 22835548, 20587702) -->Both I3C and DIM promote the protective estrogen pathway (2-OH-hydoxyestrone) WHAT TO EAT: -->Any and all cruciferous vegetables: broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, rutabagas, mustard greens, arugula, Brussels sprouts, turnips, collard greens, radishes, bok choy. -->Eat broccoli sprouts among other sprouts of those veggies just listed ^^^. EAT COOKED AND RAW: -->If you have a thyroid condition, consuming some raw cruciferous veggies should be fine, but I recommend consuming most, lightly steamed, in order to reduce its goitrogenic activity (can interfere with thyroid function). SUPPLEMENTS -->IMO - take a food first approach here. I don't usually recommend these types of supplements unless I have lab data amongst other info before recommending supplements. #breastcancerawareness #breastcancer

I wanted to leave this here again. Today I sent this blog that I wrote last year to a client who is a new mom and has had a rough start. I actually haven't looked at this blog post once after publishing it...until today. I felt "called" to share my experience, but it was also pretty revealing of a sensitive time for me. I am sharing again for any new moms out there who might find solace reading someone else's story. ... One of these days, I will be sharing what round 2 has looked like. :-) https://audreyfleck.com/journeying-into-motherhood-from-tr/
