The Province of Saint Thomas of Villanova is pleased to announce the newly-named Fr. George F. Riley, O.S.A. Fund for Augustinian HealthCare. The Fr. Riley Fund will continue to support the care of our elderly and infirm friars living in Saint Thomas of Villanova Monastery. Fr. Riley has lived in the Villanova Monastery during his almost sixty years in ministry at Villanova University and where he now resides in its skilled nursing unit. We will commemorate the re-naming of the fund and honor Fr. Riley at an in-person celebratory dinner once it is safe to do so. For more information, please visit: augustinianfund.org/father-riley.

Thirtieth Sunday of Ordinary Time - Year A Homily by John F. DelloRusso, O.S.A. Church of St. Augustine Andover, Massachusetts... "In a few days the campaigning will be over and we will vote not just for President but for the women and men who will serve in public office for the next years. Have you already voted? Have you decided who you will vote for? Are you still undecided? What criteria have you used to make your choices? The church does not endorse a particular candidate though there are Catholics, and even some church leaders, who openly state that a Catholic should not vote for X candidate or Catholics should vote for X candidate because he/she supports one particular issue and that should be the only criteria, notwithstanding the many concerns and issues that face our nation and world at this time..." https://www.augustinian.org//thirtieth-sunday-of-ordinary-

Let us listen to the voice of the Lord encouraging us from on high and comforting us. He has taken notice of our desire and has willingly accepted our plea that we have sent through Jesus. While we are still plodding along on our pilgrimage, he has deferred giving us what he promised. He urges us to ‘Hold out for the Lord!’ You will not be holding out for one who will be unable to find anything to give you. By holding out for the Lord you will come to possess him. The one for whom you are holding out will be yours forever. Long for something else, if you can find something greater or better or more lovely. Commentary on Psalm 26/2, 23 http://ow.ly/fWdu50B8tUG

Twenty-Ninth Sunday of Ordinary Time - Year A Homily by Francis J. Caponi, O.S.A. Villanova University Villanova, Pennsylvania... "The Roman coin mentioned in today’s gospel was called a denarius, the most common coin in circulation at the time of Christ. The coin was made of silver, and bore the image of a political leader (probably the emperor Tiberius), just as many of our own coins do (e.g., the Lincoln penny and the Roosevelt dime). The techniques for coin-making were not so advanced as our own, and so the image was likely not quite so clear nor quite so centered as we are used to, nor the coin itself quite so round; yet none of us would mistake it for anything but a coin..." http://ow.ly/mmNT50BUzKw
