Austin Volunteer Fire Department 11.09.2020

This morning at 02:17, Station 44 was dispatched to Liberty Township, McKean County for a Tree Down blocking the roadway. Chief 44 (J.Rooney) responded and removed the hazard, reporting roadway open at 02:54. This morning at 10:10 Station 44 & Medic 7 were dispatched to Keating Township for MVA, reported one vehicle, one injury. Ambulance 44-6 with Chief 44-60 (T.Orlowski) and Chief 44-71 (S.Orlowski) and Rescue 44-8 with Chief 44-20 (B.Brooks) responded. Fire Police Lieutenant 44-91 (J.Setzer) was first on scene confirming one vehicle, one injury, vehicle off the roadway. Chief 44-20 (B.Brooks) assumed Austin Command. Rescue Crews assessed for hazards, Ambulance Crews provided patient care. Command was terminated at 11:03. All units were back in quarters by noon.

Austin Volunteer Fire Department 27.08.2020

This afternoon at 12:55, Station 44 was dispatched to Keating Township for a Wildfire. Patrol 44-4 / 44-14 with Chief 44-10 (J.Burgett), Tanker 44-5 with Chief 44-20 (B.Brooks) and Ambulance 44-6 with Chief 44-60 (T.Orlowski) and Chief 44-71 (S.Orlowski) responded. Chief 44-10 (J.Burgett) took Austin Command, reporting a small shed / woodpile on fire and less than a half acre wildfire. Crews utilized hose lines, Indian cans, leaf blowers and hand tools to establish a fire line and quickly bring the fire under control. Fire was under control at 13:21. Fire was reported out at 13:48. All units returning at 14:13.

Jamie Rooney, Tracy Orlowski and Kathy Brooks worked together to complete and submit two COVID-19 Crisis Fire, Rescue, and EMS Grants made available by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner. We are very happy to announce we just received word we have been approved for both grants!! We will be awarded $23,973 for Fire, and $15,048 for EMS! We are very excited and can’t wait to put this money to use on multiple purchases that we know will greatly benefit our department and community! Stay tuned!

Last evening at 17:22 Station 44 & Medic 7 were dispatched for a Medical Emergency in Wharton Township. Ambulance 44-6 with Chief 44-60 (T.Orlowski), Chief 44-70 (A.Stahl) and Chief 44-71 (S.Orlowski) responded immediately. On scene Chief 44-60 requested a helicopter airborne. Ambulance 44-6 went en route to LZ. At 17:48 Station 44 and Coudersport Dept. 48 were dispatched to a second call in Wharton Township, reported Structure Fire, well involved. Engine 44-2 with Chief 44-...10 (J.Burgett) diverted from LZ, Tanker 44-5 with Chief 44 (J.Rooney), Ambulance 44-7 & Rescue 44-8 responded. Chief 44-10 (J. Burgett) requested additional units from Sinnemahoning, Emporium and Germania to the scene. Roulette stood by in quarters with one ambulance. At 17:58 Ambulance 44-6 arrived at LZ and Chief 44-60 (T.Orlowski) took LZO. At 18:08 Chief 44-60 reported STAT MedEvac landed. At 18:09 Engine 44-2, Chief 44-10 (J.Burgett) arrived on scene to find a Controlled Burn, and recalled all responding units. All responding 44 units returned to assist at the LZ. All units were back in service, in quarters, available at 21:06.
