What's My Favorite Cooktop Burner? INDUCTION! Yup! I'm a convert! And yes, even though I needed to get new cookware, I am still a HUGE FAN! Here's why I am such a fan of Induction Cooking:... 1. Precise heating control - even more than gas - and easier, too! 2. So much easier to clean than gas cooktops. 3. Safer - the cooking surface does not get hot like electric cooktops. Because the pots and pans heat up NOT the cooking surface. Do you have a favorite cooktop burner? What's Induction Cooking? Induction cooking uses electric currents to directly heat pots and pans through magnetic induction. Instead of using thermal conduction (a gas or electric element transferring heat from a burner to a pot or pan), induction heats the cooking vessel itself almost instantly. FAKE IT 'TIL YOU MAKE IT! or as I like to say NECESSITY IS THE MOTHER OF INVENTION! As much as I love reclaimed lumber, it can be expensive. During the renovation of my own historic home kitchen, I wanted a very specific look and we had already blown the budget with structural repairs. ... We decided to create the illusion of a reclaimed wood ceiling using boxed beams (2) decorative (1) real AND inexpensive barn siding that I faux painted to resemble aged wood. I got the exact colors I wanted and my husband loved that he did not have to plane and sand each board to fit. It was a great way to save money AND get the look I wanted. What are some ways you have saved money by FAKING IT? Check out the details on how I created this look on My Bailiwick Blog. https://mybailiwickdesign.com//diy-reclaimed-lumber-ceiling
