Beautiful winter morning at Bangor.

This is our Heritage Sunday, this year remembering the World War I era, one hundred years ago. The 10:00 service will be Morning Prayer as the service was conducted circa 1917 (according to the 1892 Book of Common Prayer), with period correct hymns. Everyone is encouraged to get into the spirit of the day by wearing clothing and accessories that reflect that era: long skirts, gloves, and hats for ladies; vests with boater or bowler hats for men. Following the service, we will... gather outside in the churchyard to honor the WWI veterans buried there. A piper will be on hand to be part of the outdoor commemoration. One of the highlights will certainly be the reading of two letters exchanged during the war between the parents of church member Dan Lake. His dad served in the war in France on the front. Dan’s family saved many of the letters after the war, which will provide us with genuine voices from the past.
