What a fun project!
Ducky is reading up on Historic Brownsville in preparation for his walking tour! These great booklets are available at the Melega Art Museum and Flatiron Heritage Center. The 44-page packets have color photos, maps, and details about the historic areas in Brownsville by address- it has fun facts about new businesses too! Stop buy and pick up your booklet ASAP, for just $5. Maybe get yourself an I love Brownsville T-shirt while you’re there! The Heritage Center and Art Museum are currently operating every Tuesday thru Friday, noon to 3, and other days by appointment by calling 724-785-9331.
Ducky spent the morning picking up trash and pulling weeds with his friends at the Perennial Project :) Keep Brownsville beautiful!!!
There will be a First Responders Recognition prayer gathering on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at the Snowdon Square/Cast Iron Amphitheater in Brownsville sponsored and hosted by the clergy of the Brownsville Area Ministerial Association.
Ducky is downtown ready to win a basket!! Look at these ones from the Market Street Barber Shop! So many great baskets to win! Next stop is the Kissing booth! Fun stuff till 6pm :)
What are you doing this Saturday? Ducky is going to head downtown to support the kids who are fundraising for a park! Stop down between 10 and 6 and say hi, play some games, get something to eat, and maybe win a basket in the Chinese auction.
Get your costumes ready!
Have you all heard of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF)? Well, this weekend Ducky helped return two centuries of membership records from Brownsville's 51 Lodge to leadership from the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. It was great! Pictured with Ducky are his new pals David Young and David Metz, along with BARC’s newest board member, Christian Sesek. And that cool vestment that Christian is wearing? It’s an old IOOF costume, and you can come see it for yourself! It will be permanently displayed at the Flatiron Heritage Center for everyone to come see. Unfortunately, it wasn’t Ducky’s size, so he didn’t get to try it on.
Ducky is excited to honor our local police force, AND he gets to wear his tux! Proceeds from the Policeman's Ball go towards the Shop with a Cop program and to the K9 fund. COVID safety procedures will be followed during the festivities.
Congratulations!
:( Ducky would have been the only one happy about a ballet in the rain, but he will be there in March 2021!
The heart and soul of Brownsville- it’s people!!!
