Fred Rogers, America’s most beloved neighbor used 143 as his special code for "I Love You" - based on the number of letters in each word. In 2019, the 143rd day of the year was declared as a day of kindness in Mr. Rogers’ honor. It is a day for all Pennsylvania residents to share acts of kindness and good deeds. Let’s hope this is just the beginning and that kindness spreads nationwide. Promote your kind acts by sharing on social media with #143DayInPA and let’s make every day a beautiful day in the neighborhood! Read more: https://143day.dced.pa.gov/ #143DayInPA

2021 marks the 77th anniversary of D-Day. The Allied invasion of Normandy on Tuesday, 6 June 1944 during World War II. was the largest seaborne invasion in history. The operation began the liberation of France (and later western Europe) and laid the foundations of the Allied victory on the Western Front. Every year, ceremonies are held across Normandy to pay tribute to the achievements and sacrifices of those who fought there in 1944.

Armed Forces Day is celebrated on the third Saturday in May. It is a single holiday for citizens to come together and thank our military members for their patriotic service in support of our country. Unlike Veterans Day, which honors those who served, and unlike Memorial Day, which honors those who died serving, Armed Forces Day is a day to honor all of the men and women currently serving as well as those who have served, both active and former military. The U.S. Armed Forces are one of the largest military forces in terms of personnel and are considered the world's most powerful military. Be sure to thank someone in your life who is serving or has served. Read more: https://bit.ly/3aMFA8Q #MilitaryAppreciationMonth

Memorial Day commemorates the men and women who died while in military service. All Americans are encouraged to pay tribute to the U.S. men and women who died during military service by observing a national moment of remembrance with a minute of silence at 3:00 PM local time. PHV staff will be honoring this day by participating in a local parade and placing flags on the graves of military personnel. Do you have any Memorial Day plans you’d like to share? Comment below.
