Democrats have been more willing to heed economic and historical lessons about what policies actually strengthen the economy, while Republicans have often clung to theories that they want to believe like the supposedly magical power of tax cuts and deregulation. Democrats, in short, have been more pragmatic. Help us elect more Democrats by becoming a recurring donor: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/democracydefender

Our job is to fight for workers & the middle class. The GOP takes from them after giving to big companies all year. You can't cover that up with unity or bipartisanship. It's just not good enough.

Don’t forget tonight is Rep. Conor Lamb’s telephone town hall. If you sign up you will receive a phone call at 7pm connecting you to the live call. It’s a shame we can’t meet in person, but we’re glad he is bringing the information to us.

Today marks the beginning of Black History Month. We have many Black trailblazers to thank for pushing America closer to the dream of a more perfect Union, a dream we still aspire to today. Black women of Pittsburgh played a significant role in securing women's right to vote over a century ago. We are grateful for their efforts, learn lessons from their tactics and partnerships, and continue to fight voter suppression in their honor.

Vivian Lee Mahli of Beaver is our first volunteer of the month for 2021. Within two weeks of being appointed to the Volunteer Recruitment and Deployment Committee, Vivian reached out to her circle of friends and fellow civic group members. She recruited a total of 19 volunteers and encouraged a large financial donation. Vivian's outgoing personality makes her a pleasure to work with and a natural fit for grassroots organizing and outreach. Thanks, Viv! Email us at [email protected] with the name of a nominee for a future award or if you would like to join us yourself. Join the big tent where truth and American values matter!

Staff Sgt Dylan Elchin was a 25 year old #PA17 native KIA in Afghanistan 2 years ago. His grandfather told me about this effort to build memorials in Beaver County. If you can afford it, buying an Honor Brick would be a great way to honor veterans at the holidays

When businesses and workers are asked to sacrifice for the common good they deserve to be compensated. One party is trying to help. The other party ignores the problem, complains about public safety measures, and doesn’t do the job we pay them to do.

The Republicans in the Pennsylvania legislature have proposed an amendment to the PA Constitution that changes how we elect judges to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, Commonwealth Court and Superior Court. Instead of electing judges statewide, we would elect them in districts created by the General Assembly. This would allow legislators to gerrymander districts to give one or another party an advantage in winning judicial elections. We oppose this amendment. We need to be prepared to let our legislators know how we feel. They are expected to vote on HB 196 as early as the first week of January. If passed, the amendment would be a referendum on the ballot in the spring primary when turnout is traditionally low. Get ready. Our work doesn’t stop.

We can afford to help families. In fact, we can’t afford to NOT help.
