Woods 2 Wall 04.11.2021

We would like to take the time to welcome everyone to Woods 2 Wall. Herman Mcdonald started to learn taxidermy in 2010. His mentor in the trade was Scott Edwards, from Edwards taxidermy in Central City. It was about 4 years ago, when he decided to venture on to have his own business. In November of 1991, Herman was lucky enough to marry Gina. They ended up having 2 boys, Cody who is 29, and Storm who is 22. The four of them have always been avid hunters. Herman and Gina ar...e also known for their love of breeding, showing, and working their German Short-haired Pointers. It was about 7 years ago that they started breeding and they continue to today as well. If you have any questions or would like to find out more about what Woods 2 Wall may have to offer you, send us a message or call 814-410-4542. We look forward to chatting with you soon! See more

One thing many do not realize about taxidermy is that it truly is an art form . Taxidermy is more than just preserving your buck for a Mount. It takes a vision and creativity as well. Mounts can range from the following: Antler Mount, Synthetic Skull Mount, Traditional Skull Mount, Shoulder Mount, Wall Pedestal Mount, Traditional Pedestal Mount, or a Full Body Mount. Each one of these has their own benefits. Whether you’re trying to be cost-efficient or you want to make y...our favorite hunting memory a real life souvenir, there is art happening behind the scenes. Herman creates plaques out of repurposed barn wood as well as Oak. This is a perfect item when you have a DIY in mind with your youth hunter. These are for sale for $35 and can be picked up at the shop. If you have a specific plaque shape that is not shown, simply call or message us at (814) 410-4542. Herman can rebuild a broken antler when your monster buck is going down and breaks his G3. Just supply us with your trail cam photos so he can have a reference of your pride and joy. Herman creates mount shapes and designs based off of your ideas and what you imagine sitting in your trophy room. The artistic aspect of this ranges from the position of your mount, what your mount sets on (a plaque , a rock or multiple rocks , a barrel , or an entire landscape ), all the way to the final touches that you may have never thought about (). At that point in time, Herman then airbrushes the mount into a life-like creation that came straight out of your favorite hunting spot. Final Touches are those things us hunters wouldn’t always think of. Whether it be an engraved rock with your location and year of your hunt or added detail of leaves, moss, or a piece of driftwood. It’s what brings your mount to life. Below are some examples of different mounts from start to finish. The #beforeandafter photos simply speak for theirselves. Remember to keep Woods 2 Wall in mind for your 2021 hunting seasons!

In Honor of Mating Season Being Upon Us: Coyote Facts Coyote pairs mate between February and April. Two months later, the female will give birth to 3-12 pups, who are born blind, in the den. Coyotes rarely build their own dens. They usually take over an abandoned one. Within about three weeks, the pups will come out of the den. After they are weaned at the age of 4 weeks, the parents will feed them regurgitated food. The male pups will leave their family in the fall (5-6 mo...nths after birth), but the female pups will stay in their mothers pack. Coyotes normally hunt alone or in pairs. They’re also monogamous, which means they have one mate their whole life Dogs run with their tails up; coyotes run with their tails down. Urban Coyotes tend to be a threat to domestic pets such as cats, dogs, and chickens. The coyote has few natural predators. They include bears, mountain lions, and wolves. In captivity, a coyote can live up to 20 years. The lifespan of a coyote in the wild is between 10 and 14 years Coyotes are very good swimmers & will eat just about anything. Coyotes have excellent vision and a great sense of smell. Coyotes can run about 40 miles an hour. Coyotes make noise at night to communicate with members of their family or pack and to keep track of them. They are also nocturnal. If you have a coyote you would like mounted, check out a few that Herman just completed. Call or Text us at (814) 410-4542 to set up an appointment today!
