1 Love 4 Animals 09.11.2021

As you know, 1 Love volunteers rescue dogs from the Amish breeders of Lancaster Country every week. The two puppies you see here (the miniest of Australian puppies) were living in a sweltering rabbit hutch when we arrived, flies covering their faces. The Amish are having a difficult time selling their dogs right now (COVID easing and people going back to work, and families away on vacation so more unsold puppies and dogs are going to rescue). The smaller of the two puppies wa...s missing hair on her back so the farmer, thinking it was from fleas or mange poured gasoline on her back?? She’s okay now but both puppies need great homes. Holly Short and Tinker Bell are REALLY small 3-4 lbs. at 11 weeks of age. Before anyone asks if we turned in the breeder to the local authorities we were told someone would have had to see him pouring the gasoline on the dog. Missing hair and the smell of petrol is not enough to charge him, apparently. See more

Time is of the essence. Harper, a one and a half year old Great Dane is graduating from her live-in obedience classes this Monday and we'd like her to go directly to her new home. So she can continue to learn and work with Lee Mann (trainer extraordinaire) and her new family. Great with older kids (her tail wagging may inadvertently knock over toddlers) and playful with other dogs. Lee has turned a 100 lbs puppy into a well-behaved ambassador for rescue dogs everywhere! Her "...sit" is perfection! Her "stay" would shame an artist's model. And her "down?" Like the lions in front of the Met in NYC. As far as coming when called? That's what we'd like you to do. We're calling all interested parties to come fill out an application (available online 1Love4Animals.org) Must have great vet references, a secure fence, and experience with big dog breeds.
