Boys' Latin of Philadelphia Athletics

Congratulations to Mi'Wan Shoatz-Carter, who will be rowing for Skidmore College in Sarasota Springs,New York. Mi'Wan was a 4 year member of the crew team and due to covid-19 missed out on the his senior year. Mi'Wan is an outstanding student. His commitment to crew is amazing. The team practices on Tuesdays-Fridays at 5am before school. When the pandemic shut down schools and boat clubs, Mi'Wan worked with his coaches to obtain an erg machine for his garage to be able to practice daily. Mi'Wan is the only senior on this year team.

Thank you to all the men and women who served our country so that we can enjoy its freedom. We have been lucky to have Coach Pat Dipilla with us for the past 7 years as an assistant coach, trainer, scorekeeper and friend. Pat was a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1966-1969.

Congratulations to Damar and Dymeer Davis, who will be attending Clarion University in the fall. From starters on the lacrosse championship team to key contributors on the football team this year, these two are ultimate students teammates and friends. Their personality lights up the building and is infectious. Coaches know them as "Twin" because they are so close in everything and support each others success more than their own.

Congratulations to David Anaya, who will be attending St. Anselm College in New Hampshire. David will be playing linebacker for the Division 2 program. David was awarded a Mini Maxwell Award for being one of the top scholar athletes in the area. He was a two time All Public linebacker in football, and All Public in baseball, while serving as a captain for both teams. David received first honors in all 4 years of high school.

Congratulations to Anthony Morton, who will be continuing his football career at Bates College in Maine. Anthony will be joining Za'Quir Jones(class of 2020), Mohamed Coulibaly and Mohamed Diawara (class of 2019). Anthony was named All Public in lacrosse in his freshmen, sophomore and junior season and certainly would have been this year. In 2019, he was named All Public in football and named a recipient of scholar athlete award presented at Villanova University.

Today was scheduled to be the 45th All City Football game featuring the Public League vs the Non Public League. David Anaya (LB) and Saleem Hill (DT) were selected to represent the Public League. Congratulations to all the players selected from both teams especially our two senior leaders. It would have been a beautiful day for football, but there will be plenty more Saturday afternoons of football for these guys.

Congratulations to Myles Jones, who will be attending California University of Pennsylvania in the fall. Myles was a key member of the 2019-2020 bowling championship team and the starting left fielder on the Warriors baseball team.

Congratulations to Za'Quir Jones, who will be playing football at Bates College in Maine this fall. Za'Quir was the team's scholar athlete for the 2019 football season and a two year starter at wide receiver on the football team and 3 years starter on the lacrosse team. Za'Quir attended Boys' Latin since 6th grade and will be joined at Bates by current teammate, Anthony Morton.

Congratulations to Saleem Hill, who will be be playing at Delaware Valley University in the fall. Saleem was an All Public selection this season and was scheduled to play in the All City football game this Saturday. Saleem attended Boys' Latin since 6th grade and was a 3 year starter on the offensive and defensive line.

Congratulations to Sa'ood Gibson, who will be attending Temple University in the fall. Sa'ood had a great deal of Division 3 interest, but hopes to walk on to the football program at Temple. While at Boys' Latin, Sa'ood was an all league performer in both football and lacrosse. He helped the team win its first ever division title in football in 2018 and first Philadelphia Public League Lacrosse Championship in 2019.
