We are so honored to receive recognition from the U.S. Census Bureau for the work our Reentry Team's civic engagement program did this fall. Not only did they help folks to get counted in the Census, but they also registered individuals to vote!
We were so blown away be the response to our De-escalation Training this fall that we've decided to host another on January 29th, at 9:30 a.m. We employ trauma aware de-escalation tactics to reduce anxiety and prevent the escalation of conflict amongst the guests. Learn more about how we mitigate crises and our model. Register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/de-escalation-the-broad-street... Its #MaskUp Monday!!! Meet Julia, our Hospitality Collaborative Manager. "I'm grateful to be working with such dedicated volunteers again! Having them back in the space has brought a sense of normalcy in this chaotic year."
On November 3rd, Broad Street Ministry's faith community has set-up a Virtual Prayer Room open the entire time the polls are open; 7am to 8pm. A Faith Team leader will be in the room the whole day. This is a space to gather with others, share how you’re feeling, and pray. The Zoom link is in our bio and here: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86794689975 Passcode: 315315... Below that in larger text reads "Election Day, 7:00 AM to 8:00 pm | Virtual Prayer Room" the @broadstreetmin logo is centered below that and there's additional text that reads "Join us on Zoom for election day conversation, support and prayer"]
We could not believe when the city commissioners let us know that over 1,500 people were registered to vote with our address! Our mail program offers the opportunity for folks that don't have an address a place to get mail, an address for their ID, to fill out work applications, open bank accounts, and to practice their constitutional right to vote!
Stratton can’t say much for the candidates. All I can say is, Broad Street Ministry has been there for me for 15 years. They helped me out more than my own family.
Its #MaskUp Monday!!!!! Meet Azsherae, our Community Engagement Coordinator. Thank you for all that you do! "Being apart of the BSM community is transformative! I am proud to be a part of a team that believes in treating everyone with dignity and respect. Its truly inspiring to know that BSM exists and provides so much to our guests. Everyday, the work that we do makes this city a little bit better, and a little more hospitable."
Throughout the pandemic, Broad Street Ministry has remained a constant resource for Philadelphians experiencing deep poverty. While we work towards establishing new and safer ways of providing our services during these challenging times, our commitment to our community remains unchanged. For our fifth annual fundraising bash, Be Our Guest, we are celebrating some of the innovative ways our staff has transformed our services. Film by Tolsma Productions
Did you know some of our staff and congregants not only helped source auction items, but some of them contributed their own talents?
Our Be Our Guest Silent Auction is live!
Every year for our annual fundraising bash, Be Our Guest, we focus on one particular need in our community for the impact auction. Last year, our supporters raised enough money to eliminate the choice between socks and underwear for our guests seeking help at our Personal Care Table; allowing us to provide both. This year, we focus on the upcoming cold weather and ask you to donate to help bolster our Clothing Closet's inventory. bit.ly/BOGIMPACT
